Description: To make reservations, please visit us on Open Table! Founded in 1996 the ideas for the Marblehead Chowder House were actually hatched a few years before. Sitting at "The Barnacle," overlooking Marblehead Harbor one raw winter day, while the spume from the rough saltwater painted the windows and the Sam Adams Lager flowed freely, a concept was born. Casual, coastal and cozy - fresh seafood, fin fish, shellfish and hearty chowders in a warm, relaxing atmosphere that says "seaside" - a place that had tradition, patriotism, and a New England heritage about it. Fresh ingredients, house-made soups and chowders, comfort food with a twist freshly prepared to order were all musts! Features unique to New England were the foundation - Ipswich Belly Clams (aka steamers, softshells, pissers), fresh Lobster Roll, a Raw Bar with half-shell oysters and clams and, of course, live Lobsters arriving regularly. Authenticity was crucial - only without the sea breeze, gulls and scent of saltwater. Lighthouses and other nautical decor highlight the ambience to create a coastal dining experience like none other in the greater Lehigh Valley. Our mission is to provide a great place for our employees to work, enabling them to prepare and serve delicious food in a warm, friendly and efficient manner. We want to assure you, our guest, of a memorable visit and encourage you to tell your friends and return often. Your satisfaction is guaranteed or we will make suitable amends.

“Excellent Seafood”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 20, 2013

Our dinner started with a delicious cup of New England clam chowder. The chowder was full of vegetables and clams and the broth was delicious. The crab cakes my husband order were flavorful. He ordered the homemade baked beans since these are his favorites. I had a broiled seafood combination and the clams casino, stuffed shrimp, and piece of fish were prepared well. The flavors were great! No dinner at the Marblehead is complete without their homemade key lime pie. It was a great meal and we will continue to patronize Marblehead for the quality of the food and excellent staff.

“Ate here years ago, ate here recently, terrible!”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 14, 2013

I ate at this restaurant years ago, it was a great place to eat.
I ate here recently, the service was not up to par. The quality of the food went way down, as well. We will not revisit this restaurant in the future.

“Chocolate bread putting outta this world!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 12, 2013

They don't have traditional New England Clam Chowder, they have a seafood chowder. It's really good, but thin, not thick like a chowder, more like a seafood soup but it's very good. The crab cake was okay but it's very small and it's $8. The salmon is a very thin sliver of salmon. The seafood platter was over fried. Overall it was a 3/5.

“Go to "Seafood" place”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 11, 2013

Heard great things about the Marblehead Chowder House and decided to check it out. Wow, ever so glad we did. Walked in around 4:15 pm with no reservation, but the front staff said they could fit us in. So happy they did. The most important part of any restaurant is the food and from the appetizer to the desert, everything was prepared perfectly and very delicious. The wait staff is very knowledgeable and overall courteous. The restaurant was very busy, but we were not rushed, nice since it was our first time. The decor is nice and very clean. They have a great marketing startegy with chances to win free dinners and a nice rewards program. This is one great place to go for a nice eat in seafood experience.

“Great seafood!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 11, 2013

Seafood is always fresh! I love the crab cakes made with lump crab and very little filler. You can't go wrong with any choice you make here.
Service is friendly, excellent.
They give out "red envelopes" during the month of February to be opened by the wait staff when you come back in March. We won a dinner and a movie prize. This was$50 towards dinner and a movie gift card ! In March you get a scratch off ticket or other prizes when you return in April.
This really is a no brainier to visit Marblehead! Oh and I must mention the clams...never a sandy one, always tender!
You won't be disappointed for lunch or dinner.
