Budget Inn & Suites

we chose this hotel based on the ratings here and were not disappointed.
check in was easy and the hotel staff were pleasant. room was on 2nd. floor and looked to have been updated. Plenty of room with 2 queen beds. and desk with 2 chairs. also a good size room refrigerator. The 4 of us all had a good nights sleep.
The night before we had stayed in a Hampton inn for at least double the price and all agreed this budget inn has a bigger room and much better value.
also the attached restaurant was a great plus.

NOT REALLY PET FRIENDLY. Want to ensure a 'mediocre at best' experience for your guests? Make sure to advertise yourself as pet friendly, with a great walking area and upgraded rooms. Then, when someone who explicitly booked as 'with pets' arrives, offer to 'upgrade' them to the newest renovated rooms ... but then when you see they have pets, call the room and tell them to get out immediately. Then send them to what even the staff refer to as 'the ghetto'. These are motel-style rooms with exterior facing doors - and the one we ended up in had a fully exposed entry so we couldn't even get into the hotel without getting rained on!

The room itself was actually acceptable - it was clean and fully functional. And the rest of the staff was very nice and helpful - especially Sherry B who took care of our room and gave us some pointers on out NYC day trip.

However, when it came time to walk the dogs, the walking area was an unmowed tick-haven and the side area inside the hotel grounds was overgrown with no access for the dogs. Luckily there was a cemetery next door with great walking areas. But again, it is fortunate we had plastic bags, because the advertised 'pet bags everywhere' were empty until the morning we departed.

The restaurant was formerly JR's Grille, which was supposed to be outstanding (they proudly display an award from earlier this year). The name changed to the 'Roasted Tomato' ... and that wasn't all that changed! We only went there for the complimentary breakfast, and nicknamed the place the 'Rotten Tomato', as the food was just plain bad. Again, the staff was very nice, but we were glad to have a local deli and market to buy supplies for a nutritious and palatable choice. However, we have to say that getting a drink in the evenings was fun and the bartender was very nice ... and mixed a mean Cosmopolitan!

Upon check-out the desk staff was as frenzied and unhelpful as upon arrival, with the desk manager cursing out the restaurant staff for printing too many 'specials sheets' while I was standing right there. I have stayed in too many hotels for work this year, and never seen such a disorganized and unhelpful front desk.

Overall ... not a place we would ever stay at again or recommend to anyone traveling with their pets. Without pets, it is actually a reasonable value for the price.

Room Tip: If you are traveling without pets, ask for one of the newly renovated rooms - they are a few $ more...

Thank you for taking the time to let us know your concerns. Although we are "Pet Friendly", we are so with some restrictions. As many people are allergic to animal dander or hair, we take care is segregating the pet friendly rooms from the rest of the hotel, including lobby and public areas. We have a limited number of pet friendly room, with convenient ceramic tile floors and outside entrances that our Pet families enjoy. I am sorry that your experience with your pet was not as enjoyable for you as it should have been.

The word, "Budget" in the name of any hotel creates certain expectations - this hotel exceeded our expectations considerably. It was clean, large, had a microwave & fridge, and the front office staff was very friendly and professional.
A few things to note - this location is not handicap-friendly in that there are no elevators seen or ramps from the parking lot curbs to aid those who may be mobility challenged. Also, while the breakfast is free on weekdays, it is not on the weekends. There is a nice buffet available for $9.95 per person.

Stayed at Budget Inn & Suites on an overnight stop in early July, 2013. Staff was friendly and helpful. Room was clean and presentable. This is a no frills motel, but very acceptable for an overnight stay. Free continental breakfast but it was very unappetizing. Could not bring myself to eat anything other than toast and coffee. Restaurant on site-Roasted Tomato- was a decent option for dinner in lieu of the fact not many restaurants available in the immediate area. Overall, a good option for a budget motel on the PA-NJ border.

I was pleased when I saw the clean, remodeled lobby. I was even more pleased when I saw the room. Very nice... flat screen, frig, nice bathroom.... very quiet. The problems were the lack of professionalism of the staff and the buffet. And No POOL! The front desk staff seemed as though they didn't get along. Very bad chemistry, no one knew what the hell was going on....and when in doubt, blame the other guy! Lol... There was major miscommunication between staff. They were never rude to me. Oh...the buffet was not too good and was $10 which wasn't bad. I've had much better at the Embassy Suites for free but Embassy Suites costs much more for a room. Dinner was decent. Like I said..." Good for the price!" Better than I thought whenI heard " Budget Inn". I would return.

My boyfriend and I used this hotel for one night as a stopping point on our way to the Pocono's for the Independence Day weekend. There was nothing to complain about. For the location and price, it really doesn't get better. The room was clean and comfortable and the price was excellent. We arrived around 7pm and checked out at 9am so we weren't there for very long but had an enjoyable night. We would definitely stay again if we needed to and would recommend to anyone!

Very fairly priced, quiet, clean rooms, great staff, great location. We stayed 6 nights and never had a complaint other than a small fridge (which was quickly replaced) and no microwave or pool.
Great free breakfast during the week. Staff was very friendly and accomodating - the owner even stopped by at breakfast to check on how everyone was doing. Good food at the Roasted Tomato; reasonably priced, good portions and quick service. Just get there early for the fried chicken dinner on Mondays cause it goes fast.

Room Tip: Get a map of the area.

Thank you for your kind words. although most of our rooms have a microwave, some do not, but we do maintain a microwave station in our lobby with condiments, plastic ware, etc. for the convenience of our guests. Its right next to our 24 hour complimentary coffee bar! Thanks again for staying with us.
