Wyndham Shawnee Village Resort

We had a two room lower condo in the Crestview section of the Wyndham Shawnee Village Resorts. We were very pleased with our accommodations!! The kitchen was well stocked and had all the appliances anyone would ever need to prepare any meal during their stay. There was a kitchen table that would seat six, and a bar area with four stools. The living room had a large flat-screen mounted above the fake fireplace...the fireplace was electronic and LOOKED like a fire lit, but it gave off no heat. Good for summer use, not so hot for the winter! There were two chairs, a couch, and a coffee table in the living room. There was a great screened-in porch connected to the living area through sliding glass doors. The guest bedroom had two double beds, a 32" flat-screen and an ensuite bathroom. The master bedroom had a king bed, 32" flat-screen and a huge ensuite bathroom with a whirl-pool bath and a nice shower. The washer/dryer units were in a master bathroom closet. There were plenty of towels and the usual soaps and shampoos. We did get a refresh mid-stay of the towels and sheets...very much appreciated! That's all the room service there is...this is not a hotel with room service.

Everything was very clean and smelled fresh when we arrived. There was plenty of parking and the trash cans were convenient to each condo.

The resort had walking paths, swimming pools, exercise rooms, a putt-putt golf course, and many other amenities to please adults and children.

I do have a few negatives...besides the fake-fireplace...the walls are not the best sound proofed. We could hear the folk upstairs playing hop-scotch or something like that during the early evenings. They did quieten down by bedtime each night. We did solve much of the potential noise through the walls by putting the fan on, and off auto, in the evenings...thus we heard nothing and slept very well. Oh, and the blinking red message light on the phone blinked all the time...had no message...covered it with a towel and solved the problem....some complaint, eh...

The check-in process was about as easy as you will ever have at a time-share style resort. Lots of info, and hardly any pressure to take their usual survey. All-in-all, a very pleasant experience.

The area is beautiful...especially along the Delaware river. As you drive in you will see the buttermilk falls on your left after you turn onto Buttermilk Falls Road. I'll attach a couple of photos I took of the falls. There are many restaurants in the area...a few across the road from the resort, and the rest within a few miles. We took a day trip north along the river and spent about 4 hours at Bushkill Falls walking the trails and seeing the many falls in the park. Another day we travel 1.5 hours up to West Point and really enjoyed our time there. There are golf courses nearby, wineries, shopping...all you could ever want to do. Be certain find Vinny-D's Deli in East Stroudsburg early in your trip!!! You will not be sorry!!!

We found Shawnee Village Resort an excellent place to use as a jumping off point for exploring the area. Other than the few negatives I mentioned, there was absolutely nothing to keep us from coming back to the resort, as long as we can stay in the Crestview section.

Room Tip: Get a room in the Crestview section. Lower condos have no steps... Upper condos have steps. All ha...

Checking in the person at the Desk was SUPER friendly. I think they are being so friendly so you get in a good mood to go to Desk 2 where you pick up your parking pass. For some reason they make you go to another desk to get your parking pass. Here you will get a long speech about Time shares, how much you make a year per couple, Visa Cards. I was very tired and really don't need money to sit in a classroom, it's really the last thing on my mind after driving and hour with the wife and kids and mother-in-law in the car. Mixed in with the sales pitch was offers to answer any of your questions. It wasn't too bad, but was somewhat sneaky. I should have told the lady what I charge per hour and say that she should be paying me for my time I am standing here hearing this sales pitch about timeshares.

The best part of this resort is the pool, we went this month April 2013. The ONLY thing I could say it needs is some upgraded living room furniture. It was usable, but a very itchy material. That being said the rest of the place was very big, we loved the Jacuzzi and it had 3 bathrooms. Far above our expectations. There was even a fireplace, but I could not find any wood so I actually went out in the woods and got some, although it was somewhat wet. There was an enclosed porch outback. There was marked parking for each room, but we found someone else was parked in our spot. The hotel lets you have 2 cars, so it seems everyone is very confused and I had to park my car in another rooms spot. I felt very awkward about doing this, but I had no choice. Overall I have nothing bad to say, the place was clean, huge kitchen and dining room. Very close to Walmart, Kmart and many other shops.

I stayed in the newer section of the resort, in the beautiful new condos. Our condo was impressively clean as well as roomy, and comfortable for my group of five. The working oven, refrigerator. microwave, dishwasher, and hot water made our stay very convenient, and I loved the electric fireplace and the screened in balcony overlooking the woods. I slept in the hide-a-bed, which was comfortable. All with a spa atmosphere and relaxing decor.

We ate dinner out one night at a Thai restaurant across the street from the resort, Saen Thai (a tiny, quirky local gem with delicious dishes), and also enjoyed bird watching and painting at Shawnee Lake, a drive of only about five minutes from the resort.

All in all, a very relaxing, low-key, refreshing place to stay. I would recommend it to anyone needing a weekend away.

Room Tip: Be sure to choose a suite in the newer sections (we stayed in C299). The older sections, built c. 19...

we stayed here bc i got an amazing deal, i bought a prime week from someone else.
otherwise, i would never pay full price here.

the 2 bedroom unit in depuy is average. met our needs for size. love having 3 bathrooms!

it is very dusty, you can see it piled up all over the place.
the bedrooms are decent size. but they need blackout curtains (a must for travelers!)
or at least enough curtain to cover the window for privacy.

major cons! no TV in master bedroom, come on!!!
the fireplace is not gas, you have to buy wood and build a fire! dangerous!!!
these units are VERY far from the clubhouse, you must drive to get around.

the clubhouse is lack luster and the activities are boring. even during spring break!
the indoor pool is large but lacked enough chairs around the deck. it was cold but the kids dont seem to mind.

i dont want to keep nit picking this place. i prefer split rock! i would not return to this place.

i will answer any specific questions if you have any. i dont mind at all.

oh, the staff was friendly and helpful which i believe is very important.

We stayed at crestview in december just before christmas. The place is beautiful. They have a nice activity and entertainment center where kids were able to play indoor Basketball, Table-Tennis, swimming, pool table and video parlor. It was on the expensive side due to the holiday season. They do have Timeshare sales guys but you can avoid them by just saying no. It is located in East Stroudsburg so near to all kind of restaurants and stores that was a big plus with teen age girls and near ski resorts for the teen age boys and girls. We had great meals at the Thai and Italian place located in a strip mall opposite to the resort. A Mexican joint run by Indians in a nearby motel was O.K. Overall great experience.

We used our timeshare to make a week trip in the Poconos and ski. Location is perfect for venturing to Shawnee Ski and Camelback. If you stay at Shawnee Village they give you wristbands for discounted lift tickets at Shawnee (HUGE BONUS!).

The place itself was very cute and spacious for a 2 bedroom cottage. We lit the fireplace every night! Enough room to spread out and enjoy.

Only downfall is the management continued to call and bug about sitting for a timeshare meeting (with incentives). Communication between marketing employees and front desk for the resort isn't good. We asked for extra towels and trash bags and never received them. Other than that, the ammenities were great for this vacation!

Recently, friends of ours were gracious enough to let us stay with them in their time share which happened to be Shawnee Village for the night. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and there was nothing to complain about large enough to not go back.

The check-in seemed very easy (we were just along for the stay and didn't deal with the front desk). As soon as we got to our house we locked ourselves out. Fortunately a very friendly staff member opened the door for us, thankfully after he confirmed with the front desk we were who we said we were.

The house was a very good size and came with full compliment of pots, pans, and dishes and a fully applianced kitchen. The downstairs also had a sizeable living room with a fully functioning wood burning fire place. In the downstairs bathroom a full sized washer and dryer were also avaiable. There were two bedrooms upstairs, both of which came with their own bathroom. One bedroom had two double beds and one had one larger bed and although not very comfortable, they got the job done. It was definitely a ski area type cabin with no 4 or 5 star frills but was very comfortable and cozy.

The main lodge for Shawnee Village had a large salt water pool and hot tub in a well kept area. There was a small arcade and pool area as well as a gift shop in the same building. We noticed an indoor basketball court too.

So basically, from our perspective, the stay was good. The amentities were good with the full kitchen and washer and dryer. And as I previously mentioned, although it was a no frills cabin it was very comfortable and we enjoyed our time there. We would go back.
