We did spend part of Father's Day there, and it was a pleasant enough visit, but there is really not much to do - even in the summer. I don't think that the previous reviewers mentioned this, but the very beautiful lake is privately owned by a Lake Association. Unless you have friends in town who are members or you are staying in one of the inns you cannot do much more than stare at the water.
We had an excellent lunch at the picturesque "Sweet Shop" and then browsed the little stores. They were interesting, but the only really remarkable on was the book store. It was amazingly big and well stocked for such a small community (120 year round residents according to the 2010 Census).
We were also pleasantly surprised by the extensive and interesting displays in the museum. All in all they made us a little sad tough. Eagles Mere used to be such a bustling community in the summer with visitors pouring in from Williamsport and other locations. They stayed in 5 big hotels (all gone) or cottages, and there are many pictures of happy events like dances, boat rides, fine dining, train rides, etc. I couldn't help thinking that we would have enjoyed Eagles Mere much more in those "olden days".
