“Great place to stay for Rickett's Glen”
Reviewed July 7, 2014

My daughter and I stayed one night in Room B. The room included a living room with an electric fireplace that came in handy as the night was unseasonably cool. The bedroom was large enough to hold the two queen beds with space to move around. The bathroom was very large, with a clawfoot tub that included a shower. The rooms were squeaky clean and nicely decorated-cozy country style without being too kitchy. The room had nice views and was right next to the second floor balcony that overlooks the creek. Breakfast was fantastic and filling! I like that you can choose from several options unlike many B&Bs where you just get what's on offer that day. We had a half a muffin and fruit starter, I got scrambled eggs with cheese, delicious homemade biscuits and equally delicious sausage patties. My daughter got chocolate chip pancakes also with sausage and local maple syrup. The owners/staff were very friendly in a non-intrusive way, and we enjoyed meeting the house kitten, cat and dog. The sitting area is very pleasant, as is the dining room and front porch. Travel time to Rickett's Glen was about 25 minutes, and the property is about 10 minutes from the local town of Dushore that has several places to eat. We plan on returning and spending a little more time exploring the property.

My wife and I spent the weekend here to go hiking at Ricketts Glen State Park and Worlds End State Park. I have never posted anything before, but felt the need to mention how wonderful the weekend was. Number one was the awesome breakfasts. The food was so good! You get a starter like fresh fruit and pasties, and then you get to choose from seven breakfasts. There is no TV, and when first booked I though I wished there was one for the evening after hiking. I have to say I am glad there wasn't one! We spent the time walking around the grounds and the creek, talking, and playing games.

My husband and I spent 3 nights there, an anniversary getaway. It was close to the Ricketts Glen State Park Falls which is what attracted us to it. The rooms were tidy, comfortable and everything we needed was available. Our host were quiet, respectful and available if needed. Breakfast was delicious and service was very good. Being an animal lover, I really enjoyed having the pets around outside, makes it homey (although a little concerned about the health of a couple of them). The B&B has their own natural small waterfall in their front yard which makes it nice to picnic by. All in all a great experience and would definitely return.

Room Tip: We had room A and were very happy with it.

We luckily got a last minute holiday weekend reservation here, we spent our trip in the large four-bed 'suite'. everyone at the location was incredibly nice, the land was gorgeous and the owners dog was the sweetest (after him scaring the heck out of me when he came to my car at night lol). the owner allowed us to bring our 2 dogs - who got along very well with theirs. it was very close to both Ricketts Glenn and Worlds End which were my groups main destinations. Not too far from town, where there were some shops and places to grab food and go. the building itself was pretty nice - the downstairs common area was perfect, though we didn't spend much time there. We went in the midst of them doing renovations, i believe, but we weren't interrupted by noise or anything like that. I would recommend this location to anyone and am actually hoping to go back soon.

Cherry Mills lodge is a beautiful and cozy Bed & Breakfast. The Location is great if you are in need of a getaway. It is tucked away by the loyal Sock creek which makes it for a nice peaceful area. I stayed in Room F, one of the new rooms they have finished (they are remodeling). It was a cozy room with its own spacious bathroom. The decorations gave it a great ambiance. The family that owns the B & B, the Kiners, are very friendly and knowledgeable. . They serve breakfast from 8 am to 9:30 am. The food is home-cooked and was amazing, and are quick about serving you. You have a good variety of choices, such as Pancakes, French toast, sausage biscuit, beef and gravy, etc. and the normal egg choices. The coffee is home roasted.

I am definitely coming back when it gets warmer.

My fiancé and I stayed here for a Thursday and Friday night. On Friday night about 5:00 we heard kids, a crying baby and many loud rude adults. Wait , it gets worse...

Then the hammering and construction starts-honest ! At 7:40 there is hammering, dropping of equipment and such going on in the attic above us. They are adding rooms- which is fine; but nothing a paying guest should xperience on a Friday night celebrating an anniversary.

There is no excuse for this

That we offer "Family Suites" is clearly advertised on the front page of our website, as a result, (big suprise), some of our guests are families. The kids and baby you refer to in your review, are here this weekend to honor the memory of their dad who passed away unexpectedly four and a half months ago. He loved attending the Bow Hunter's Fesival, and they choose to stay with us this weekend to attend the festival in his honor. Though I appreciate your business, I appreciate theirs more.

As to the remodeling. We are "do it your-selfers" and work when we can, even if it's 7:40 at night. If we hired a contractor to remodel the third floor, he would be here at 7:30 in the morning making noise, which I'm sure would give you cause to complain as well.

On a sunny afternoon we took a ride to explore our beautiful state of Pennsylvania. We visited the Endless Mountains in Sullivan County and all along the way, stunning scenery awaited us. Even though it was very hot and humid, as we ascended the mountains the air became cooler and breezier. No wonder many people escape the summer heat by fleeing to the mountains!

We read about Cherry Mills Lodge Bed & Breakfast in a little "Guide to the Endless Mountains" that we got at a rest area. Also, I did further research by reading about it online. It was everything we'd hoped it would be!

From the highway, we turned off onto a little country road to get to the lodge. It was very big and looked like it might have been a hotel at one time. We were greeted by a large, friendly dog and soon the owners appeared. They were a charming couple who ran the lodge with the help of their children. All were friendly and helpful and went out of their way to make us feel welcome.

We relaxed in comfy rocking chairs on the spacious front porch before we went to do some sightseeing . As we took in the scenery we were delighted by the pastoral farmlands, huge old trees, and the nearby Loyalsock Creek which flowed beneath a bridge. There was an overall feeling of peace and quiet, with only the sounds of birds chirping.

Our rooms were very clean and tastefully decorated with a few antiques and pretty lace curtains. The same was true for the rest of the lodge; it had a nice, comfortable feel. We felt as if we'd gone back in time. Our room was on the second floor; it didn't have air conditioning but there were several fans in the windows and they were sufficient to keep the room ventilated.

The homemade breakfast was delicious. We were given several choices and all turned out to be very good. It was so nice to be seated in the cozy dining room where we could smell the wonderful aroma of our food being cooked in the adjacent kitchen. Afterwards we chatted with the owner and he offered helpful suggestions of nearby places to visit.

During our stay, we took a ride to nearby Forksville to see the historic covered bridge. Also, we ate lunch at The Forksville Tavern. What a great restaurant! It was like a big hunting lodge, with mounted animals on the wall and knotty pine throughout. Best of all, the food and beer were fantastic.

We also visited World's End State Park, which was about 10 miles down the road from our lodge. It was one of the most beautiful state parks we've ever seen. Later, we had supper at the Whistlestop Inn, located in downtown Dushore. Our meals were delicious and the service was friendly. We liked it so much that we lingered at the bar in the back room after the restaurant was closed and we had a nightcap.

The next day we took the "long way" home and decided not to use the GPS. We came upon a winery called "Birdsong" out in the middle of nowhere. We were so high up in the mountains that it felt like we were literally on top of the world. The view of the surrounding mountains, valleys and farmland was breathtakingly beautiful.

We went through Wyalusing and stopped at the Wyalusing Hotel for a little respite. There we had some snacks and drinks and played several games of pool. It was impulsive and fun.
We came home through Tunkhannock and stopped at Twigs Cafe for a late supper.

In only a few days, we packed a lot in, but it didn't seem hurried because we did whatever we felt like -- no schedules or plans. I highly recommend a stay at the Cherry Mills Lodge and a ride through the gorgeous Endless Mountains.

Room Tip: We loved our room, but we also checked out the suite w/fireplace and it looked like a beautiful room...
