From the outside of the place, it looked a little questionable. But, the food was phenomenal. Menu had lots of different & exotic items to choose from and you also get to choose how you'd like it prepared. I would highly recommend this place. Definetly need to make a reservation, we got there @ 7pm and had to eat at bar (not such a bad thing, bar tenders & servers were great & had fun personalities.)

I'm from NYC and this menu would be BRILLIANT there
When I saw their menu, it was like a wild game festival had just up and landed in a run down section of rural PA.
Grass fed Canadian Bison, Kangaroo Chili, New Zealand Lambchops!?

Anyhow, I tried a cucumber infused beer (yeah, weird but great with my lambchop order). My boyfriend had the pork and we really really enjoyed!

The prices are comparable to NYC, and the ambience is pretty quaint. I'm just so confused how this ended up in rural PA>?!?

Definitely worth a visit if you're into something other than chicken and fish

Au Rants has a unique menu with extraordinary food. Definitely not your run of the mill boring selections. Wait staff are very attentive and take time to answer any questions about your order. The beer selection is extensive. Nothing fancy about the atmosphere, but, the unforgettable meal makes up for it. Definitely a place you will want to return to.

A former pizza place/bar that would not get a second look from passers by, but has become a (sort of) hidden gem in Northeastern PA, an area historically and currently overrun with pizza establishments of all size and styles...not that there is anything WRONG with that ;-)

Aurants is far from a pizza place now. In fact they don't even serve pizza...but don't be surprised to see local kielbasi 'kabobs' seasoned with jalapeno and cashew, unusual hot dogs, pretzel tofu, kangaroo, skate, huge diver scallops, southwestern seasoned seafood or local wild mushrooms, "burgers" with quality beef mixed with duck and seasonings, lamb chops 3" thick, creative cheese style steak sandwiches, signature heavenly smoked Gouda w bacon mac n cheese, etc etc etc -- hopefully you get the idea. We have tried most of these and other dishes and never been disappointed.

Aurants is NOT for everyone. It is unusual, creative, sometimes far out, tasty, cooking. It isn't cheap either (for the NEPA area)...but it has a huge following so many think it is good value. Reservations recommended always and definitely on weekends. I have seen disappointing people turned away more than once.

Dress and service are very casual. The dining room is plain not elegant. There is no view. T-shirt attired servers and barkeeps are knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Parking and access are good. Dining room entry requires passing through a small, quaint, classic style, and craft beer stocked bar. Aurants is known more for its fine beer rather than wine, of which they have a limited but passable selection. There are also dining 'specials' a few nights a week...check them out a they may change.

A place that will surprise most first time (and often returning) visitors in many ways, mostly good ones. Remember to call ahead on weekends for sure.
