“Interesting and Offbeat!”

Funky place - you never know what you'll find...like a vampire killing kit! There are many items you won't be able to identify. Took my Girl Scouts for a Halloween outing - great fun!

“Fantastic Collection of Early American Artifacts in a Unique Castle”
Reviewed February 2, 2012

We DO have castles in America! Well in Doylestown anyway. The Mercer is walking distance to the Doylestown train station, about 75 minutes from the center of Philadelphia. Numerous eateries and shops are also in walking distance as it's all right in the center of town. Mercer is famous for inventing structural concrete, which he used to construct his "castles", both his home Fonthill and the museum he built for his tool collection. Well worth a visit at any time of the year. A lot of walking and stairs involved. Right next door on the site of the old prison is the James Michner Museum of Art.
