Just visited the Michener Museum for the first time to attend the "Grace Kelly - From Philadelphia to Monaco Exhibit". I loved the exhibit and it made me miss her exquisite elegance all the more. Aside from the special exhibit, I was impressed with the Michener Museum in its totality. Easily accessible by SEPTA train from Center City Philadelphia, the Michener has a fantastic collection of paintings in a warm and comfortable environment. Well worth the visit If you're in the Doylestown area. I'd recommend an afternoon so that you also can take in the Mercer Museum which is directly across the street from the Michener Museum. I'll be back now that I know I can get there so easily.

Michener Museum has a revolving set of exhibits along with some great permanent fixtures. The changes every few months make attendance a regular event. Just saw Grace Kelly tribute and it was top notch.

This museum is good and compact, and has some fine painting. Some of the exhibits, particularly the modern works, did not interest us, but we came for, and were rewarded by, the Bucks County Impressionism. You can easily visit in under an hour.

Good selection of art, nice that it had fun stuff for the kids. The nude art had the kids a bit curious, but there was signage up with a warning so it was out fault.

The paintings of Nelson Shanks are fabulous and well worth a visit to this gem of a small museum. The permanent exhibit of 20th Century Pennsylvanian impressionists is outstanding. I enjoyed the architecture and sculpture garden as well. We sat in the small, Japanese-style George Nakashima room and enjoyed an interval of tranquility looking through books on the master's life and works.
