Don't let the remoteness, the ramshackled setting, or even the squalid lakefront keep you from stopping at Kevin's. It's a rib-tickling good time for your taste buds! If you're into everything pork, you'll find it here. The ribs are ginormous, meaty, and slathered with the kind of St. Louis sauce that will have your lips, mustache, or whiskers thanking you for years. Whatever magic their smoker posseses is on full display here. The pulled pork is so tender, it just falls off ITSELF! Kevin even throws in some cornbread that's so good, you'd swear it was dessert. Speaking of same, you can't miss the homemade brownie sundae. The father-daughter team that runs Kevin's is friendly and over-accomodating. Everything is made from scratch, with the pork of very high quality. They also have an extensive breakfast menu with some yummy looking options. This is a can't-miss eatery!

We ordered the pulled pork sandwich for our meals but while we were waiting an order of ribs was delivered to a nearby table and the look and aroma convinced me that I wanted to try them. So I ordered a couple a la carte. We should have had the ribs as our meal. They were marvelous. Plenty of meat on the bone, cooked perfectly, and doused in a sauce that added a touch of flavor but not enough to overwhelm the meat. The pulled pork sandwich was topped with the perfect cole slaw for the sandwich. Fresh, crunchy and just the right amount of dressing to balance the sweetness of the BarBQ. Unfortunately the meat lacked the flavor to hold up it's end of the sandwich. Although it was lean and well smoked, it was wet, not moist, and lacking a smoky pork flavor. As if it had been soaking in water.
We will be back and we will have ribs. And it won't be soon enough.

Great atmosphere, friendly patrons and service. Makes you feel like family and comfortable. The smell of the BBQ being smoked on the premises is delightfully intoxicating. Nestled on the lake with plenty of lakeside views, very relaxing and don't want to leave. 5 stars and then some, absolutely wonderful and top notch for the best local grub.

Enjoyed the food a lot, but it's such an out-of-the-way place that we likely won't go there too often, considering the price of gas. The hot deep-fried oreo dessert with vanilla ice cream melting next to it and whipped cream with chocolate sauce was TO DIE FOR. Have never had anything like it before. Beef brisket was very good also. Probably very pretty view in the warmer months since it overlooks a nice lake and you can even sit outside, but we went in December at night. Staff definitely aims to please and is very pleasant. Prices very reasonable.

After a visit earlier this year, my husband and I returned to the area with our friends from Denmark. It was just as delicious this time! We sampled most every meat and side on the menu and weren't disappointed. The pulled pork and Texas brisket were the overall winners, but the chicken and sausage were very good. If you are visiting a resort or hotel, skip the buffet and mediocre steaks. This meat is cooked with love and pride!
