Just back from a 3 night stay at the Station Inn. The experience was everything I had hoped and more!

First, the rooms are very clean and laid out so that most beds face the tracks. You can drift off to sleep listening to the trains of Norfolk Southern rumble by.

The inn has a very pronounced railroading motif, and the front porch is ideal for sitting and watching the trains roll by.

The breakfasts prepared are wonderful and you never leave the table hungry! They offer snacks and soft drinks. Several family style diners and pizza joints are with in walking distance.

The inn is near the famed Horse Shoe Curve, Railroaders Mueum in Altoona and on the tracks of Norfolk Southern Railroad as its trains run east and west of the Allegheny Mountains.

I cannot wait until I make a return trip!

If you are a Railfan, or just passing through Cresson, make sure you spend time at the Station Inn.

Room Tip: If a railfan, you have to stay here!

My father and I recently took a trip to the Cresson Area for a railroad adventure and decided to stay at the Station Inn. The Inn is absolutely beautiful and the people there are always great! At dinner time we would walk down the road to Vito's and grab an amazing dinner! I am one of those people who love to watch trains all the time, so being able to stay on the porch until 11pm was a huge plus! The rooms are very very nice, and you MUST try the breakfast! Sandy was SO nice and made everything so good! It is nice to catch up with everybody there and talk about the area. There always seems to be a lull in the action when breakfast begins which is good for the die-hard fans like myself who hate to miss a train. After breakfast the area is beautiful, or you can just stay on the porch and watch trains, even when it is raining. Cookies and pretzels are always out for your enjoying, and at night you will get used to the trains that come by after the first night. I recommend this HIGHLY to anyone who is in the area!!! We will certainly be back in the earliest that we can possibly be and the Station inn will be our first stop!

The Station Inn is a great place for railfans! It is a no frills B&B, so if you are looking for pampering, this is not the place for you. If you are looking for great hospitality, a great breakfast, and lots of trains, this is definitely the place to stay. Tom is a wonderful host! He knows alot about the area, and he even has info packs that he lets you borrow for your stay which have maps and directions for interesting places to visit. You could also just spend your days sitting on the big porch talking to other guests and relaxing. There are several restaurants within walking distance. Cresson Springs is very good, and if you tell them you are staying at the Station Inn, you get a discount!

My family originated in a town called South Fork, roughly 15 miles West of The Station Inn....I spent alot of time as a youngster watching trains from my Grandparent's homes from the late 1960's through the 1980's until the houses were sold.

I discovered Tom Davis' Station inn in the mid 1990's and immediately took a liking to the place as I have made almost 80 separate trips to the Inn since 1997.

It is always a joy to arrive at Tom's and always a bit sad when it is time to go home...just like my family visits to South Fork when I was younger....I have met many railfans over the years at the Inn, as well as found and made friends from local railfans via trackside visists and the internet. Tom' has upgraded his amenities over the years, including a water cooler, bottomless cookie jar and complimentary soft drinks to regisistered guests....Wireless internet is also complimentary......Someday, I plan to retire to the immediate area bu in the meantime, The Station inn will be my favcrite place to stay to enjoy plenty of train action along with comraderie of fellow railfans.
