Hominy Ridge Lodge and Cabins
Reviewed September 27, 2013

We stayed in cabin 6 and it was very very nice. The bedroom was a little small but we still loved it. The cabin was very well equipped and had all the comforts of home. Andy and Paula were very helpful to us because this was our first visit. We would love to come back and stay for a whole week.

Thank you for your review. We appreciate your business and hope for a return visit with us again! It is funny how you stated how small the bedroom is. We just upgraded from a full size bed to a queen bed. It did make it smaller but the size of the bed should more than make up for it. See you again!

We had a WONDERFUL stay in November 2012 for our 10 year anniversary. Paula and Andy made everything comfortable and relaxing. We had a cat that would visit our cabin each morning, she sat on my lap on the front porch while I drank my morning coffee.
Thanks Paula and Andy for everything! Can't wait to be back this year again for our anniversary!!!

Room Tip: Stayed in cabin # 6. Haven't stayed in any other cabin, but I'm sure they would be just as...

Very clean and beautiful setting. Be warned that the pictures a bit misleading about the size of this cabin. We have 2 small children and planned to have them stay in the bedroom while we stayed in the pull out futon in the great room. However, there was no way the pack-and-play would fit in the bedroom with the bed, so we had the kids sleep in the great room. Not too convenient in the morning or for nap time!! Other than that, we had a great time.

We are glad you stayed with us. Sorry that you felt mislead about the size of the cabin but the pictures are the best we have. Maybe what happened is that when you booked it had a full size bed. Recently we upgraded the bed to a queen. So one set of pictures did depict that you may have had some room. But it never really allowed for a pack and play even with the full size bed. Most adults sleep in the bed and have the children sleep in the LR. So arrangements were flip flopped and it was not really intended to be used the way you thought. We do hope that we get to see you again and you can enjoy a cabin that meets your specific needs.

We had a very relaxing weekend at cabin # 4. We know the area so we didn't have any problem finding the place. Paula, the owner, was friendly and helpful when we checked in and out. The store was well-equipped and reasonable. We were happy to learn that the gas heater was really good at heating the cabin. We've stayed at other cabins in Cook Forest and had to wear heavy socks to keep our feet warm as the floors were so cold. Everything was clean. We've stayed in cabins where I washed the dishes before using them but I didn't feel the need to do that here.
The bedding was amazing. Better than we have at home! The mattress was high quality and the sheets, pillows and comforter were great! The decor was rustic but tasteful, the appliances and sink were older but everything worked fine. I liked not having to take sheets and the dishcloth and dishtowel were nice as was the fact the dishwashing detergent and hand soaps were supplied. The porch was so nice and has a table and four chairs and a bbq grill. There are lots of windows in every room that open up to let in the fresh air. I don't think you can go wrong staying at Hominy Ridge cabin #4 and I know we'll be back....maybe in the Fall.

In reviewing the past comments of some of your previous guest, understandably there are always people that feel the responsibility to be complete and through in their review. Taking every liberty to point out every issue that may occur during their stay.

However, I am absolutely amazed that you (owners) feel the responsibility to defend each comment. This, to me, makes me believe that there is really more of an issue than just someone reviewing their stay.

Take it easy! If you are doing something right, people will still continue to patronize....you cannot please everyone and defending is very unprofessional.

Room Tip: I did not stay at this lodge...was browsing reviews.

My husband and I have been spending New Year's Eve at Hominy Ridge for the past 6 years. Paula and Andy are great hosts and they have a wonderful party for the guests on New Year's Eve. We have stayed in most of the cabins and also the Suites. All are very clean and comfortable. Hominy Ridge is a great place to escape for a time of leisure and relaxation.
