You feel like you're escaping to the countryside at this historic spot at the side of the road. Spring Mill Cafe is set in an old house on a tract of land that's reminiscent of a small French village and for the most part, the menu fits that image. Last visit, our two starters were a succulent lobe of fois gras and a rustic country pate. Main courses: rabbit in a creamy mustard sauce and scallops served with a lovely spring risotto. Spring Mill's 'bring your own bottle' policy helps make the experience even better :-) The dining room is small so reservations are a must on Thur-Fri-Sat nights. The only wrinkle was a large table of obnoxiously loud, hooting diners trying to out-yell each other. Why can't more Americans have a civilized meal, showing consideration to others? But, that's another story.
