We decided to try Osteria after a couple of friends told us that they enjoyed the food there about a year ago. We were told we would have to make a reservation because it gets very busy. We were seated at a table close to the fireplace, which was very nice. The hostess took our drink order and we heard her tell our server, so it was very strange that the server came back to our table to ask us again what we wanted to drink. They brought us a bread basket with very large white bread slices and frozen butter packets, which was disappointing as most restaurants give a different selection of breads and a signature dip/butter with it. I ordered the bruschetta and my boyfriend ordered the brocolli rabe with shrimp appetizer. The servings were huge - the bruschetta was on the same bread that they serve in the bread basket and was very bland. My boyfriend said that his brocolli rabe was previously frozen and not very good. For dinner, I ordered the chicken with spinach, crab and shrimp - and when I ordered it I had to show the server what it was on the menu - she must have been new. My boyfriend ordered the chicken marsala. Again, the servings were huge. My dish was ok, nothing to gush about - it was bland and the chicken seemed previously frozen. The chicken marsala was in a very thin sauce, which my boyfriend tells me it is supposed to be in a very thick sauce. I had half of mine wrapped to go, and my boyfriend had his pasta boxed. We only had 1 drink each but the ticket came to $85 - definitely not worth it. And when we left - there were only 4 other tables - so we didn't need to make that reservation. Now we are arguing as to who is going to eat the leftovers, because I don't want to and he doesn't either.
