Nichols Village Hotel & Spa

This was our second time staying at Nichols village. We used priceline and got a good price for two nights stay for my son's orientation for the University of Scranton. This wasn't a bad stay it just wasn't as good as the first. We were put in the older section of the hotel and upon entering the room it smelled very musty by the day 2 odor was gone. Having a small patio was a nice plus they just need to wipe it down once in awhile. Table and chairs very dirty unable to use them. Front desk staff nice enough, just not as warm and accomodating as my first stay. I would probably stay again and ask to be put in the the newer portion of the hotel.

I bet this hotel was nice 15 years ago. The effort to make this place more modern is lost by how run down the building is. The bathrooms are very outdated. Shower heads are old and poor quality. The bathroom in general is bad. Faucets need to be replaced and are real ugly.

We checked into the room and the smell of wet carpet was strong! The corner of rooms carpet was soaked with water. I called the front desk and she was very helpful and offered to let us change rooms. But after driving for 6 hours we were to tired to move.

The staff here is very helpful and nice. They deserve a nicer hotel to work in. The pool was nice. Clean and a good temp. But is looks old and needs to be updated. I would never pay the full price of $129.00 a night to stay here. Even the $55.00 I payed on price line was too munch. There are lots of cheap places to stay around here. Check them out first.

Room Tip: Try a different hotel!

Thank you for taking the time to post your comments. The new owner has renovated all the rooms and the next step would be to re-do the bathrooms. The wet carpet sounds like the A/C had leaked I will check on that

This was my second time staying at Nichols Village Hotel and Spa, both times to attend a concert at Montage Mountain. I got a great deal for $72 a night through Priceline. The room was large and clean, the bed was comfortable and had a nice feather duvet, and I thought the pillows were fine. The bathroom was okay and there was an additional sink outside the bathroom to use with a magnifying makeup mirror. We weren't really hanging out in the room, just sleeping there, so it was great for our needs. There is a Sheetz next door (convenience store) with freshly made sandwiches, drinks, coffee, etc., there are McDonalds and Burger King nearby, a Weis grocery store and a Rite Aid just across the street. Oh yes, and a Krispy Kreme donut shop just a short way down the road!

We stayed one night at the Nichols Village Hotel. The pictures online make it look much classier than it is. We have no complaints, and it was nice. It was easy to get to. There are plenty of restaurants within walking distance. The staff was pleasant. The room was clean. The pool was a good temperature to work out. I noted it was going to closed most of the weekend weddings. I would check availability if swimming is important. Overall, fine. I would give Nichols Village Hotel a 3+ or 4-.

Location is excellent, grounds are pleasant, rooms are clean, beds just OK. But management clearly doesn't pay attention to detail. Reading lamp in our room was missing its bulb. This was fixed. Toilet flush handle was barely attached to the toilet. By the time we got to breakfast at 8 a.m. not much was left. Not only food items were out, but also paper plates. We were told they'd replace things "if possible." Apparently it wasn't possible. At checkout there was no one at the desk and no one in sight. We wound up leaving the key and never got a receipt.

Clean hotel. Courteous staff. Only complaint, bed was lumpy and pillows were very thin. Room looks just like the pictures. Only stayed one night while visiting granddaughter at camp. The pool was closed to other hotel guests because they were having a wedding the next day, which I thought was unfair to the rest of the people. All in all, good value for the money.

We found this place through trip advisor and one of the "hotel coupon" magazines. They upgraded us to a two-queen bed room at no additional charge. Inside, the main room was very clean and modern. It really felt like staying at something much more expensive. The charm quickly faded once you entered the bathroom, however. It looks like they renovated the main room, and left the bathroom nearly untouched. The "white" appliances had a yellow tinge, as if it was a smoking room in years past (though no smell of smoke was detectable). The faucet had these square handles. Combined with the tacky wallpaper and all the gold trim just made it look so very 70s. It was usable, very comfortable, probably the best night's sleep we've gotten on this whole trip, but just be prepared for a little nostalgia when you go to the bathroom.

The front desk was very helpful, and free hot breakfast was provided with our room. I would definitely stay here again.

Thank you for taking the time to write your review. It is true that we renovated the rooms first and have not yet done the same to the bathrooms. We hoping to do that in the next capitol budget.
