This place is amazing..from the time you walk through the doors til you leave you are treated like royalty...Each room is more beautiful that the next..we stayed in the Belle ...huge bed with all the details that you would never expect..Dinner was wonderful and the Sunday Brunch out of this world..we took the tour of the house and heard the stories of the family who built it
and lived there thru the years..The gardens and grounds are beautiful..with life size statues from Frederic Remington..you can see something new every time you walk around the house..i am very impressed by Tara and for the staff that works there..cant wait to go back

Room Tip: look at their website because each room is more beautiful than the next its really hard to choose...but i think my next choice might be the Butlers Room...

Wonderful, relaxing stay. Beautiful rooms. Every room is decorated different, from the Gone with the Wind era. Wine, crackers and cheese in your room upon arrival. Take time to wonder throughout the hotel to see all the treasures the owners have collected over the years, ie: pictures from Gone With the Wind, old newspaper clippings from Abe Lincoln's death, guns circa the 1800's,.....tons and tons to see.
Food is excellent, with a southern twist. Neat, tidy, rooms turned down for the evening with chocolates left on the bed. Amenities in the bathrooms are plentiful: shampoo, conditioner, powder, hairdryer. Beautiful grounds-do take a walk to see it. Then, relax in the gazebo outside in an old rocking chair. There is an indoor pool and outdoor pool. Dvd players in every room, and a bureau with current movies you can rent. It is a non-smoking Inn, however, for smokers, the outdoor sitting areas on the grounds are very well equipped with ashtrays. The staff is wonderful, kind and very helpful with any questions. They are all dressed in period costumes from Gone with the Wind. Tons of Gone with the Wind memorabilia. Plenty of sitting areas thoughout the inn, to read, relax or talk amongst friends. It would be a beautiful setting for a wedding. This is truly meant to be a relaxing stay, not for young adults and partying.

Room Tip: We went on a tour bus from Ontario. All the rooms are completely different. They are all a large size, with extra pull out couch for a bed, jacuzzi tubs. From all of the travellers, not one person complained about any of their rooms. All top notch.

I returned from my 2 night stay at Tara yesterday, as part of a 3 day bus tour from Ontario. I stayed in The Plantation Suite, which was perfect for 3. The room is huge, clean, lots of space to sprawl out which was needed. The room had a huge Queen sized bed, super comfy, then in an adjoining room/den a pull out. The only issue we had was our toilet continued to feel its age and required some TLC. I believe given the age of this mansion, there would be some genuine benefit in investing in some eco friendly upgrades. In our tour, breakfast and dinner was included, there was always lots of options, lots to eat and truly authentic home cooked meals. The grounds are immaculately clean, groomed, landscaped. There was evidence of some work being done on the grounds, which to me means someone is paying attention to them. The only down side, the bar was closed. If travelling with a bus tour of old women, a young lady may require a cocktail or two.

Room Tip: The view from the Plantation suite is the roof and the air conditioning unit. So if your going for a quiet view of the gardens, this room is not it.

My wife and I booked Rhett's room for an anniversary weekend getaway. Let start by saying it's really the little touches that made this a perfect weekend, from the staff using your name to the tray of goodies waiting in your room everyday. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, they anticipated your every need. We ate at Stonewall's both nights we were there and the food was great and the portions were generious (to say the least). We both loved the atmosphere of the resturant as it was cozy and quiet. We are looking forward to returning year after year.

This is our 4th time to visit Tara and each time is as fantastic as the last. There are not enough wonderful things to say about the Inn, the food, the staff, the room. Everything is absolutely perfect. Make sure you take a stroll through the walkway, it's just a perfect way to end your visit. From the time you are greeted with a glass of champagne at check in until the time you check out, you are completely spoiled. Mr. Nixon actually remembered us from our last visit!

We always get the Gone With the Wind package. I know it seems expensive for one night, but when you realize all that is included you will be amazed! Be sure to wander around the Inn; there's so much to see. Can't wait to go again!

Room Tip: We stayed in Rhett's, Fiddle Dee Dee, Belle's and Master Gerald. All are quiet, but we've found leaving the bathroom fan on while sleeping does help with outside noise.
