Recommended length of visit: 1-2 hours
Owner description: Nestled along the Pickering Creek in Chester Springs, Pennsylvania, the Mill at Anselma is an extraordinary artifact of 250 years of Chester County’s industrial heritage. The Mill retains its original Colonial-Era power train, as well as multiple layers of industrial equipment ranging from the late 1700s to the mid 1900s. Guided tours of the Mill are offered Thursday through Sunday between the hours of 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM. The Mill at Anselma is still a fully operational grist mill that produces stone-ground Bread Flour, Pastry Flour, Dark Roasted Cornmeal, and Buckwheat. There are monthly milling demonstrations from April through December as well as monthly special events.

Nearly anyone five and up will enjoy the many features this gorgeous National Historic Landmark, an epitome of Chester County's past. With everything from knowledgeable tour guides to walking paths to a seasonal farmers' and artisans' market, there is little one cannot find here. Price of admission is low, a gift shop sells flour actually ground at the mill, group tours are offered, and wedding photos, etc., may be taken there. The buildings are lovely, the tours interesting, and the opportunities for recreation and to purchase from local farms and artisans in the summer months are not to be found many places. Check it out!

Quaint mill exhibit a minute or two off Rt113. The volunteer staff is extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Our group throughly enjoyed it.

The Mill at Anselma exemplifies Chester County’s industrial heritage. The Mill stands as the most intact, authentic example of a custom water-powered grain mill in the United States. It is a National Historic Landmark. The Mill illustrates milling industry over the course of three centuries. The tour guides spend about an hour or so guiding you through the mill and explains the history of the mill, its owners and the history of the surrounding area.
