Dilly's is the type of place the locals go to. Those who frequent the place know they have very good food, and offer pitchers of beer for reasonable prices.

Dilly's is on the West side of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, right along US Route 30. When you visit, it's best to do so when the weather is decent so you can sit outside. Inside it's a bit dark and gloomy, but outside on their fully enclosed deck, the decor is more upbeat and fun.

Parking is pretty ample, and even when the restaurant is full there are a few spaces left.

Don't expect fancy dining. This place serves as the town's most popular bar at night, and will be packed to the brim late Friday and Saturday nights. But during dining hours, it's very family friendly.

We sat outside on the deck the couple of times we went over the summer. They have a few fans going for air circulation. About 1/3 of the deck is covered, and the rest have umbrellas to help protect you from the sun. In one of the rear corners is a small water feature which adds a little ambiance to the atmosphere.

Beer by the pitcher is a popular choice, and we had Yuengling as that is something all of us enjoy quite a bit. When you sit outside, you get the pitcher plus plastic cups. No frosted mugs. Not a big deal if you aren't savoring the beverage.

Dilly's menu is diverse, offering a wide range of choices. Sandwiches, salads, burgers, and full dinners with sides and bread in the evenings. I recommend the sandwiches, which are served with chips and a pickle. They have several French fry options, and they're all quite tasty.

Prices for the food is very reasonable, and they do not skimp on quantity. A crab melt comes loaded with large chunks of real crab meat, cheese, and a delectable sauce which is both sweet and tangy, plus mildly spicy. They seem to have several unique sauces for some of their meals, which makes it more interesting.

There is always a pile of food on each plate, even with appetizers. A taco salad appetizer is a enough food for two people to have a full meal! Dilly's also offers specials daily as well as traditional meals on holidays like Thanksgiving.

Prices for Dilly's food is very affordable. Both times we were there the service was great and speedy. The waitresses we had were bubbly, happy, and prompt. Dilly's owner can usually be found working there as well, and occasionally makes his rounds to customers to say "hi" and inquire about your experience.

Dilly's is a popular place for the local residents of Chambersburg, and it's not hard to see why. Very good food and service, full range of reasonably priced beer options, and an outdoor deck available seasonally. Family friendly until it turns into the biggest bar scene late night.

Dilly's is a great place for CHEAP food and drinks. However, it is very dark and vacant in the actual restaurant. If you are planning on eating there be sure to eat on the deck. It seems as if they have hit times in the past few times we ate there.

Dilly's has a wide selection of the standard bar food. Lots of sandwiches, platters, and daily specials. None of it is terribly expensive and the wait staff is typically nice and friendly. Like most bars the atmosphere is a bit dark and a little smoky but if you ever have a hankering for deep fried Oreos, head to Dilly's.

We were passing through on the way from Gettysburg to Canton OH and were hungry and undecided about staying or continuing. Pulled in, entered and were greeted as if we were hometown. Our waiter, Red, knew the menu and answered our questions and made informed suggestions even offering to alter parts of the specials. We opted for dinner for 2 w/one shared appetizer, entree and veggie, separate deserts and beverage-- under $20 and very good. We ate and relaxed and asked staff about motels along our route and were told there were units on the way and there were units nearby town. We opted to stay mostly to have another meal at Dilly's. In the morning we were very impressed again by staff and by the menu. I chose to have puddin, a regional meat which I was informed was the meat rendered from the bones in making sausage. Add cornmeal and it's scrapple. Just seasoned and heated it's puddin. Eat as a side for eggs or on pancakes w/onion and syrup. Who would have guessed how pleasant that could be and I was unable to finish the portion. Great cakes and this unique way of eating them!! My wife had eggs and ham steak, a generous and delicious portion of ham and eggs done to order.
We are both glad we don't live nearby; we would eat so well so often. We are both sad we don't live somewhat closer. It was a gem to find this place.
