We stopped in Chambersburg by chance and looked for an interesting, good restaurant. Bistro 71 gave us exactly what we wanted. *So much better* food and atmosphere than a chain. Very friendly service. We seem to have arrived on pirate night -- a table of 10 dressed as pirates -- and they were friendly too. It was tapas night, and they had good dishes. Best were the batter fried green beans: lightly battered, fresh and crispy. (We were told the calamari was also delicious.) Shrimp was too sweet for our tastes, but scallops and Asian braised short ribs with roasted carrot puree were both delicious. We finished with a small tenderloin of beef with poached egg, holandaise, and fried procuitto -- delicious. Good martinis, too. And dates -- bacon wrapped, with goat cheese -- $1 a date, buy at least a couple. Fun & delicious.
