“Disappointed with standard tour”
Review of Kentuck Knob

Kentuck Knob
Reviewed April 30, 2013

We visited both Kentuck Knob and Fallingwater during our visit. We decided to take the standard tour for Kentuck Knob and were so disappointed! Our guide was new and struggled to get her thoughts out effectively (um, and, uh...uh) and we felt very rushed through the tour of the inside of the house. The space is small, but we didn't anticipate being kicked out onto the back patio in under 30 minutes! We were pleasantly surprised by the grounds and sculpture garden...and were thankful to have nice weather to be able to enjoy it. Hope the people who pay for the in-depth tour get their money's worth because we surely didn't! I won't be going back anytime soon.

We decided to tour 2 of FLW's houses that he built in Western PA. Fallingwater and Kentuck Knob. The tour guides were very helpful answering lots of questions. The dental molding on the outside of the house was beautiful and made of cedar. The roof was completely copper. The skylights were amazing. I think of what these 2 houses (Fallingwater & Kentuck Knob) would cost to build today-even thought they most likely would not pass code. No photography inside the home, but the outside view and area is just breathtaking. A must to see if you like to tour special homes. We toured both homes in about 2 hours without hurrying. KK is 8 miles from Fallingwater, so they are both worth the time.

A weekend of tours of Ketuck Knob and Falling Waters.....we did Kentuck Knob first which i am glad we did. It was supposed to be an hour tour, more like 45 minutes...
Last tour of the day, I felt rushed as did the people that I travelled with
Tourguide was adequete a little hard to understand
Alhtough it is a nice home and if you are into FLW work you shoud go
Cost of Tour was $20.00
They had some food for purchase but they had closed it for the day, we were able to get coffee ( as it was chilly out)
Glad I saw it but would not go back

This home is less than 15 minutes from Fallingwater , a more famous Frank Lloyd Wright design, but is also well worth your time to visit. It is a smaller family home which is privately owned but opened to the public for tours. The design is quite different from Fallingwater, but still impressive. The surrounding grounds and view are delightful and include several outdoor sculptures.
