“awesome”

The food was outstanding. Great BYOB. Our waiter worked at both Il Granaio and Antica and was very knowledgeable of the menu. Being able to bring our own wine takes a great place and makes it better. I will be back.

“The Other Side of the Coin”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 4, 2014

This restuarant is owned by the same people who own Il Granaio. (Can I say see my review of them?) So I was excited to try them for lunch. It just wasn't the same. There is no warmth to the decor. We went for lunch and were the first people in the restaurant. Still our waiter acted like he didn't want to be bothered with us and his service was perfunctory at best. Worst was the food. I ordered the Shrimp Fradiavolo. I've always thought fra diavolo meant spicey but not here. The sauce was totally bland. The shrimp were the tiny (about the size of a dime or nickel) cocktail frozen shrimp. Very disappointing. My husband had veal pizaiola in a pomodoro sauce. He also thought his dish was bland. Considering each of us only had a main course with no starter, dessert, or even drink we thought the restaurant a bit pricey for lunch - $34.00 before tip. Fellini's Italian restaurant right across the street is a much better choice both for flavor and cost.

“A "gem"....”

In the former Brandywine Bistro (which could have been great but seemed surprisingly not that popular) and presented by the same folks as Il Granaio. BYO, open atmosphere, good service, good food, fairly priced, lunch & dinner. They hold there own very well vs. Fellini, Hank's and the Brandywine Prime, all a stones throw away.

“Spectacular Food- especially the tiramisu!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 28, 2014

Antica is definitely one of the best restaurants I've been to in a while. The food is excellent, the service is even better. While reading some of the other reviews, there seems to be an apparent issue with the noise level. After dining here at about 7:30 on a Saturday night, I would have to disagree with the noise being a distraction. It may have been a bit loud but in no way did it interfere with dining. Being a walk-in at about 6:45 and not being seated until 7:30, I would suggest a reservation- even if it's only a party of 2. Our waiter was very courteous and professional. Overall, this is a wonderful restaurant and it demands the slightly high prices. Give it a try!
