Six of us stopped by here on a busy Friday evening after we discovered that our original restaurant choice was closed for the evening. The placed was packed but the hostess could not have been more gracious and asked us to wait a few minutes to see if there was something that she could do for us. Then, miraculously, we saw some of the staff pulling tables together and setting them. We were seated in no more than ten minutes! Then, we experienced the only down-side to the whole evening. The room was so loud that some of us could not hear what our server was saying at one end of the table. Because we felt fortunate that we had even secured a table, the noise was not an issue for us so we sat back and enjoyed the rest of our stay. Our waitress was delightful, personable yet professional and most efficient. Each of us found our menu choices to be innovative, flavorful, and nicely presented. The young one with us ordered chicken fingers (what else?!) from the children's menu and quickly devoured them. The Caesar's salad was chock full of fresh ingredients. Tender and delicious veal pizzalola was not overly saucy and could not have been better. Pork tagliatelle was wonderful and so plentiful that almost half of it was enjoyed at home the next day, though the pork was on the chewy side the flavor made up for it. We surely will return here whenever we plan to be in the area

The folks at Il Granio have opened this new restaurant with same same theme: good inexpensive Italian food in a BYOB. Unfortunately the noise level at both places is high. Our snapper and veal chop were well done. The waiter was friendly and professional

Six of us dined on a week night, and the place was pretty full. We all had different entrees and all of us thought they were excellent. A few of us had appetizers and one couple was unhappy enough with an eggplant app that they asked to have it removed from the bill.

Despite the delicious food and pretty good -- not great, occasionally forgetful -- service, we probably won't go back at any time when we think the restaurant will be more than 50% full. It was SOOOO noisy! Really, to the point where we had to shout at one another and it just became not fun or pleasant at all.

I don't know a thing about restaurant design, but I do know that some restaurants that seemingly have all hard surfaces (like Antica) have managed to do something about damping sound. Antica needs to look into this. Or maybe they won't need to -- it's not a large place and there are always people willing to put up with aggravations like noise. For us . . . well, there are enough other good choices around us to make another visit unlikely.

Because we enjoy Il Granaio so much, we gave their newest endeavor a shot! We enjoyed it very much. We were there the second week they were open and all went smoothly. Food was delicious.....some dishes were not hot enough, however, but were still nicely prepared. The waiter was very attentive and the ambiance nice for our conversation although it was relatively early in the evening. Overall, a good first impression. Looking forward to going back in the near future.

Antica is a welcome new addition to Chadds Ford! My hubby and I had dinner there on Sunday night and were pleasantly surprised!

Their version of bruschetta is quite different and delicious: Honey Whipped Ricotta with Fried Sage, Grilled Cherry Tomato in a Roasted Garlic Balsamic Vinegar. $8

My hubby ordered the Shrimp Fradiavolo which was comprised of Five Jumbo Shrimp Sauteed with Cherry Tomatoes in a Spicy White Wine Pomodoro Served over Linguini. $22 The sauce was perfectly spiced and shrimp large and delicious. This is a must-try entree!!

I ordered the Pork Tagliatelle which included Braised Pork, Mushrooms & Radicchio in a Herb Brown Butter Sauce. $19 This entree was beautifully presented (almost reminded me of a Chinese dish in appearance). This entree was ok; however, it seemed to be lacking much flavor and did not have enough sauce. I ate ~ 1/3 of the entree and planned to take the remainder home. Sarah, our wonderful server, returned the dish to the kitchen and the chef made a new meal for me and packed it to go! What a nice surprise!

I think this restaurant makes their own pasta. Both the linguini and tagliatelle are delicious!!! Perfect texture and flavor!

We thought that we died and went to heaven when we tasted the chocolate bread pudding with bits of orange peel and a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top. This desert was served in a coffee cup on a dessert-sized plate that was beautifully drizzled with chocolate by Sarah (our server). The bread pudding had a wonderful texture ~ more like a pudding with bits of bread and gooey chocolate. This dessert is made in-house and is a must-have if you love chocolate!

Another surprise was the complimentary house-made limoncello offered to us at the end of the meal. Very yummy for the tummy!

The acoustics are not the best; however, my hubby and I sat in a corner in the front of the restaurant so the noise volume did not bother us. I'm not sure how the noise would be in the center of the room.

This restaurant is very popular already and was almost completely full when we left at 7:15. Dinner reservations are an absolute must. I look forward to returning to Antica again in the near future!
