We needed a place to stay for a quick getaway to catch the NC Wyeth exhibit at Brandywine Museum. We found this little gem with a special rate that fit our needs for a two-night stay. Under new owners, rooms are delightful mix of historic and funky. We stayed in the Lavender Room at the back of the house. We were surprised at how close the Inn is to the road, but since it was built in 1700's it is on Route 1, Baltimore Pike; it makes sense that over time the roads have widened. Proprietors Brad and Cindy have put in new windows that effectively block road noise and we enjoyed our view of the lovely gardens at the back of the house. Breakfast was generous and delicious with options for continental should you choose. We really enjoyed the exresso bar. We had nice conversations with the other couples at breakfast and ran into them at the museum, too. This is a very convenient location to the major sites in the area and the owners offer to have available tickets for their guests. We took advantage of their untimed entry for Longwood Gardens. For meals, we found ample options for lunch and dinner. The Inn is within 2-3 miles of Longwood and Brandywine in either direction, perfect for our plans on this quick getaway. We hope to return and recommend this inn if you want to immerse yourself in...More
