Home cooked breakfast was served around a long dining table with a view out into the garden, free of TV or piped music. Just the simple pleasure of amiable conversation amongst interesting strangers with similar interests - gardening and world travel - very memorable. Parts of the house are very old, 60 years older than the US. For anyone having stayed in older English houses things like creaking boards and narrow stairs (there was help up and down with our luggage) would be familiar. And there is one room on the first floor if stairs present a problem. Still a work in progress Cindy and Brad who took the place over five months ago are already running a hospitable place where you will lack for nothing. Simple pleasures, a few comforting frills but mostly a complete lack of plastic wrapped corporate product. Unique. When we arrived we were struck by the proximity of the road, but only noticed it when going to and from our car. Once inside this small time machine the modern world, like the sound of cars, faded away and there was peace, good food and companionship and two nights on our garden tour in a comfortable bed.

Room tip: We had the Rose Suite, slightly pricer bit worth it. No road noise, just privacy and comfort.

We stayed here for two nights while returning from North Carolina on our way home. The new owners have really upgraded the place while maintaining its Colonial roots. We stayed in the Lavender Room which had a King size bed and plenty of room. Word of warning...the stairs going to the second floor are very steep and narrow so if you have problems with stairs please contact the owners directly.

They offer complimentary water, coffee, tea and snacks. The breakfast is homemade and delicious.

Our daughter lives near there so planning more visits in the future.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Brad and Cindy have already made many improvements in the four months thay have owned it. They are gracious and attentive hosts. Be sure to ask them for discounted tickets to Longwood Gardens.

The new owners have operated this for four months and it's a fabulous place to stay. Sited in an 18th century building right on Route 1, the inn has a four acre property with beautiful gardens, hiking trails and sitting areas, ideal for relaxing

It's very convenient to Longwood and the other attractions. The current owners are great, the rooms are comfortable and well furnished, the hotel is spotlessly clean, and the breakfasts are very good.

We've stayed at a lot of B&B's over the years and this is one of our very favorites.

We stayed one night after visiting Longwood Gardens a few miles away. The new owners Brad and Cindy were so nice. The place was built in three different centuries, and they have used some preserved materials as they renovate. The Sea Glass Room was lovely--it looks out onto the garden and is quiet. Some window shades would have been nice, as the curtains let in the light pretty early in the morning. Cindy's breakfast was terrific. We would go back if we ever visit the area again.
