My husband and I were planning on eating at the Boiling Springs Tavern for our date night without the kids - but they had no open tables until 8PM and we also hoping to catch a movie, so we stopped at Fiddler's to see if they could get us in without a reservation. They sat us immediately, no problems, in the main dining room at 6PM.
The restaurant was crowded but didn't have that frantic feel that restaurants sometimes get when they are filled to capacity. The outdoor dining space was full as well and looked lovely. They were also holding an event in their pavilion - a carshow or something. The event was bustling with servers running in and out, but still didn't feel rushed or panicked.
Our server was a little slower than what was probably normal, but frankly, it just gave us time to enjoy our food. I, personally, hate when all your courses come out right on top of one another! We ordered mild chicken wings which were good - not fantastic, but more than passable. My husband ordered the Chicken Marsala and I ordered the Mayapple Burger. We were both pleased with our selections, although I thought his was a little dry. My burger was great, cooked medium but still very juicy and the toppings were melted well (not melted to the point of melting OFF the burger, like the last time I was at the Red Robin nearby.) For $8, I felt it was a great deal.
Overall, we had a very nice experience. The tables, when the restaurant is full, are a little close together - so don't go here on the weekends expecting an intimate, quiet meal. But they weren't so close that I felt I should just invite the other diners into my conversation.
Finally, we both felt that this was a place that was great for couples searching for a nice meal, but would also be good for families with relatively well-behaved children.
