“Clean, recently remodeled.”
Reviewed August 6, 2013

This is a recently redone hotel on the road into Carlisle. It is a fine place to stay with pleasant personnel, good parking, clean facilities and comfortable bedding. We would recommend it without any problem. There is no restaurant on the premises but Carlisle has some interesting and worthwhile restaurants downtown, just a few minutes drive away.

This hotel is located right off the turnpike and convenient to Hershey sites. Though it looks newer from the outside the rooms are a little dated. The room was clean but had a funny smell. I was concerned our clothes would absorb the smell. Also the sink is seperate from the bathroom which can be irritating to someone trying to sleep while someone else is getting ready. This wasn't a big deal for us as we only stayed one night. The free breakfast was okay. It was typical with waffles and eggs. Overall it was okay but I don't think I would want to stay longer because of the smell in the room. If it hadn't been late and if we had been staying longer, I would have requested a different room. I'm giving the room the poor rating because of the smell but a different room without the smell would be average.

I had an excellent stay at the Best Western Carlisle Pa..The hotel was really great. It was very attractive; the price was right, and the staff was so friendly and accommodating. I would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling through this area. Besides because of the natural gas crews are causing a real mess because they have all the hotel rooms and rates have increased at least half above the normal rates and noone else was accepting hotel coupons. So plan to stop and spend the night at the Best Western Carlisle. There also was a frig and microwave in the room. The pool area was very clean, also.

This was my third stay at this establishment in the past three years, and by far the worst. There is a lingering scent when you enter the hotel (and it's not the usual Indian food as I encountered in years prior). The scent carries on into the rooms, which were mildly clean. The air conditioner also gave off an odor. The swimming pool had a ring of black scum along the top, the tiles looked like they had not been cleaned in a while as well. I am sure the rooms where the owner/manager's family are living at the end of the hallway are well taken care of though...

Management was also very unhelpful. They refused to redeem a BW voucher I had, and approximately an hour later, a sign was now posted at the front desk saying "No vouchers or coupons will be accepted today." My card was also charged for two nights, despite the fact I Ieft after one.

The breakfast was cold, only six egg? patties were put out for a supposedly booked hotel. The toaster did not work, only one side of the bread was being toasted. This used to be a nice breakfast, but appears to be getting cheaper over time.

I thought I had found a regular hotel for my yearly visit to Carlisle, but after this most recent experience, I will no longer stay here anymore.

The staff was friendly and the beds very comfortable. There was a pool close by but could have been cleaned a little better. We got a good price for the room. Very close driving distance to all Hershey attractions.

175.00 per night for an 90.00 per night hotel. Rooms are average at best, Old stained carpet, dead bugs in the floor, housekeeping dosen't change sheets. Pillows are a joke, mattresses need to be replaced, continental breakfast POORLY stocked at 6:30am. I've stayered here for the past eight years, the price gouging never seems to end, and there have been NO upgrades made to the facility! I'm looking elsewhere next trip.

Those readers who are familiar with Best Western properties may be a bit disappointed with this motel. The motel has clearly seen its better days, and it survives mostly on the reputation of the Best Western chain.

The breakfasts are spartan at best. Those travelers who have the time might want to consider eating breakfast elsewhere.

The rooms themselves are adequate in size, and the beds are satisfactory. Noise from adjoining rooms was a bit of a problem, however.

The rugs, both within the rooms and in the corridors, are old and worn. The rugs aren't threadbare, but they are worn. The staff cleans the rugs with a chemical of some sort that leaves a lingering odor. I haven't a clue what the chemical is, but those travelers who are sensitive to such odors should be forewarned.

The members of the staff were neither aggressively friendly nor rude, but we found them to be less helpful than members of the staff in other Best Western properties.

The bathroom was clean, and the supply of hot water was adequate for our purposes. The supply of bath towels, hand towels, and washcloths was adequate . The motel supplies shampoo but nothing else. Bring your own mouthwash and hand lotion. The air conditioner functioned properly during the duration of our stay.

The Best Western Carlisle is not a bad motel, but it certainly isn't a good one. Because I have no idea what other motels are nearby, I can't really say whether or not I would stay there again. I would certainly determine whether or not the Holiday Inn offers alternatives before making another reservation, though, and suggest that the traveler at least investigate this possibility before committing.
