“My hometown”
Review of Children's Lake

Children's Lake
Reviewed April 15, 2014

I gotta say I am partial to Childrens Lake, as it is located in the town I live in. I got married in the gazebo back in 2001. Instead of throwing rice, etc. we tied individual bags of bread cubes, and everyone fed the ducks after the ceremony. Was a great time back then, and is still an enjoyable passtime now.

Plenty of benches to just sit and people/duck watch. Also a nice walking path. Fishing season is in, so it's neat to see the range of ages of all the different folks fishing.

Gotta love the lighted Christmas tree over the holidays, as well as all the luminaries. Very quaint.

Several other activities happen over the course of the year, at different holidays. And if nothing is going on, it's just a peaceful place to relax and take in the lake!

Thank Monica B

The water is fed year round by underground streams; it is crystal clear, and remains about 55-60 degrees all the time! Neat place.

The Children's lake is a great place to spend a few leisurely hrs with your family either fishing or just walking and admiring the swans & ducks.

This is an excellent place to take the family for a relaxing day. A nice walk around the lake and spend time feeding the ducks! Just don't go over fishing season, it gets crazy then. But looks especially nice in the fall.

I have been visiting the Children's Lake for over 30 years and I do not get tired of it. It's a great place to just walk and sit and be. The water is crystal clear and spring fed (hence the boiling springs) and maintains a constant 60 degrees all year round. You can see the fish as they dart around in the water and feed the many varieties of ducks and geese who flock to the lake. If a walk around the lake isn't enough for you, then you can head out in two different directions on the Appalachian Trail. It's a great place to just relax and take some time to just enjoy nature.
