“We really liked the service.”
Reviewed November 29, 2012 via mobile

We were in the area on a day trip and got a coupon at the rest area for this place. The food was pretty good. I had the smorgasbord and my husband ordered off the menu. They kept the food stations filled and the food I had I liked. My husband had a sandwich with a side of Mac and cheese. He liked his sandwich but didn't l care for the side dish. The only thing I was kind of disappointed in was that the kids buffet was not open the day went so we ordered the kids Mac and cheese and our son didn't like it. Our waitress was very good. She checked on us very often and was very friendly and nice.

“Big, good and busy”
Reviewed November 25, 2012 via mobile

Like many places in lancaster county it is a big buffet with the goal of moving herds of tourist through. While they do a good job of that you still get that "herd the tourist" experience. I would pick it over the chain restaurants but it doesn't match up to some of the other local experiences. The food was solid but not exceptional. They have lots of buffet tables but repeat dishes and the selection was deceptively small. The usual gift trappings in the store area while you wait will appeal to some but miss the mark for me. Price seems more set to tourist than repeat customers.

“Tasty local food”
Reviewed November 24, 2012

I've eaten here several times over the years. Most recently I ordered the soup, salad bar which also had bread and cheese. Three soups were offered as well as the typical salad bar items. Price was reasonable and service was friendly. Others in the group ordered the buffet which was under $20 a person on a weekend night and included beverage and dessert bar. Items were hearty and included sauerkraut & pork, ham balls, country sausage, turkey, ham, fried chicken, fried clams, meatballs, fried shrimp, fish, etc. My son and mom enjoyed the food. Other customers ranged from local families, including Amish, to tour groups, and visitors to the area.

“Great Place for Breakfast!”
Reviewed November 20, 2012

You know how when you first wake up on an over night trip you have no idea what you want for breakfast? Well, then head to the Bird-In-Hand Family Restaurant where the food and service are excellent!! The offering is enormous and the buffet has a little for every taste. Serving the typical Pennsylvania Dutch fare the food is delicious. Anything you can imagine from pastries to eggs to breakfast casseroles to scrapple, etc. Where else do you know that you can have Shoo-Fly Pie for breakfast?! The price was reasonable - $8.99 for the all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet. A great place to take the family.

Always good hot soups, desserts, all u can eat salad bar, and food bar, go early, people line up for this place, close to everything, pricey if you add lots of sides on, but basic menu is more than reasonable.
