“Great camping experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 15, 2014

We stayed here with some friends this past weekend for my friend's birthday. We originally planned on staying at Ricketts Glen but they were sold out for the weekend and we were really happy to find this place! We picked one of the walk in campsites and we really enjoyed it. The walk was a little far with all of our camping gear but not unbearable and definitely worth it for the seclusion. If you'd rather not walk they do have spots you can park next to. Camp site had a lot of room, was secluded, had a picnic table and a fire ring. The campground owner was very nice and helpful. We paid $10 per person to camp and got two full crates of firewood for $12. The campground is on the same road that goes up the mountain to Ricketts Glen so we were still able to enjoy the park and the trails. We will definitely return in the future.

Everyone was very helpful and nice from the time I called to make reservations all the way through to the end of our stay. We stayed at a primitive site with just a fire ring and picnic table which was what we were looking for in a campsite. Our campsite was perfect for 2 tents and two vehicles. The bathrooms were well kept and clean. I plan on returning and would very much recommend this place to anyone. Also just down the hill from Rickett's Glen State Park which was perfect for our trip.

My husband and I stayed here with our two pups when we wanted to visit Rickets Glen states park. Unfortunately the state park campground was sold out for the weekend, so we stayed here instead. It was a unique experience. The campground has a mixture of seasonal renters (RVs that looked like they haven't moved in years), cabins, and camp sites. The sites were pretty tight together, but we got to choose our own site which was a plus, and since it was a cool weekend in September, most of the other sites were empty which made for a quiet night.
The grounds themselves were quite rustic, but we were ok with that. The bath houses were basic and clean enough. There really isn't a camp store, its more of a flee market that is open on the weekends. It was actually quite neat to look through the antiques the afternoon we arrived. The owners are very laid back, and extremely pleasant.
Just go in with an open mind, know that you aren't staying at a KOA, and you'll have a nice time. Oh and visit the state park if you are in the area! The falls were breath taking!!

My wife and I went here for our ten year wedding anniversary. We could of not asked for anything more perfect. The owner was nothing but nice. He had the heat in the cabin on before our arrival. A beautiful place with a must see corner store (Red Rock Corner Store) in walking distance from the campground. The store has everything you need and you HAVE to try the hoagies! What a wonderful experience. My wife and I will cherish these memories over and over. Thanks Guy, Abigail and Ollie!!!

Room Tip: It's best to have cash on hand for the area.

My husband and I stayed at Red Rock Mountain Campground. We rented a cabin that had a heat, a double bed, bunk beds, a refrigerator, and private bathroom with a shower. The operator was always very pleasant when we spoke on the phone and even turned the heat on for us before we got there.

The campground is within a 5 minute drive to Ricketts Glen State Park main entrance. There is a corner store across the street. A nice bonus to this campground is the antique market located in the main building. Also there is a BBQ stand at the entrance to the campground off of 118. The BEST ribs I've ever had! (see my review for Smokehouse Bar-B-Q)

There is a restaurant called Ricketts Glen Hotel about 2 minutes up the road. We called to make reservations and they didn't have availability till 8:30. We asked the campground owner for a locals recommendation and he gave us four options and directions to each. We went to the Central Park Hotel about 10 minutes up the road off of 118 (see my review for the Central Park Hotel for more details). It was a wonderful dinner and we were so happy we went off the beaten path. Do yourself a favor and go there!

A major PLUS with this campground is they welcome pets, even in the cabins. Also I checked out the public bathrooms and they were well kept and clean.

You must bring your own linens and toiletries.

Room Tip: We stayed in cabin 15 and it was perfect for the two of us. There are cabins with kitchens and cabin...
