A nicely refurbished resort with modern amenities while retaining the charm from the Victorian era. Good food, service and facilities. If you seek a stay that combines history, excellent golf course and dining this is a great place to stay. The renovation to the property was very well done and the maintenance of the golf course excellent. This is a low key site so go for relaxation, dining and health.

We got a package deal for 3 nights, not sure what to expect and had a most enjoyable and relaxing getaway.

The staff were first rate at every turn. The facility is renovated and kept in great condition. The room was huge, well appointed, and lovely. The bedding was first class. The bathroom was large, stocked with anything you could want, and the towels were plush. The grounds are set in the Allegheny Mountains with well maintained walking trails and golf course.

The spa was excellent, with knowledgeable attentive staff, stocked with champagne, teas, fruit, generous robes, hot and warm mineral baths, and relaxing furniture. I could wallow all day there. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his massage, having need of an experienced masseur after his knee and other surgery. Everyone was kind and helpful.

The indoor mineral pool is heated and open 24/7. We swam alone at midnight.

But the food was outstanding. So was the bar with generous size pours. Nothing there is skimpy. All is served with style, quality, and detail. We had Prime Aged Steak, lamb, duck, and a tower of seafood. The chef even made an original flaming dessert like an Iron Chef using sautéed pineapple, watermelon pucker, rosemary, salt, and Tabasco, served over chilled berries! It was an OMG moment of surprise and pleasure, filling the senses. Only a tingle of heat since the sugar tempers the peppers. Btw, that is not on the menu and should be. Ask for it.

We shall absolutely return.

A great hotel. Staff is extremely friendly. Lots of history. Beautiful grounds. One of the nicest golf courses in PA. Nice walking trails. Located only a few hours outside of Pittsburgh and Washington DC.

As a returning customer, I cannot find fault with this beautiful resort. The service & friendliness of the staff is top notch! Especially pleased with the young staff that work in valet & food service; such respect & manners shown towards the guests. A bit pricey, but worth every penny. Will continue to visit!

Where else can one receive unparalleled service, five star accommodations, and gourmet meals while at the same time being exposed first-hand to one hundred and fifty years of Americana history. This is a must-see facility.
