Have stayed here twice and loved each visit. Historic setting with modern features ( including free wi-fi). Great individual service and impressive finishing touches. A very big fan of this hotel and spa.

My family spent Christmas together at Bedford Springs. Normally I would hate staying in a hotel for the holiday, but it was so beautiful, relaxing and very welcoming. Everything about this hotel encourages relaxation & enjoyment of the beauty & history of the grounds. Our room was gorgeous and comfortable. There was nothing institutional or commercial about it, just a beautifully restored room with a very comfortable bed and amazingly decadent bathroom. The lobby areas are beautiful and upscale yet welcoming. It was so heartwarming to see so many families sitting around the tables together playing the games & working on the puzzles provided. The indoor pool was amazing. We ate and played pool at the Frontier Tavern, which was also a great experience. The food was reasonably priced and very good. The Lobster Mac & Cheese was fabulous & had huge pieces of lobster tail in every bite. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute we spent at Bedford Springs & hope to make this a new Christmas tradition in our family.

Room Tip: The Everitt House has wonderful rooms with balconies. Very comfortable & quiet.

I would not have thought it possible to come here because I am not a movie star or corporate CEO but my daughter pulled of some magic with points and we had Christmas here. My jaw has not yet raised up off my chest the amazement factor is so great. The hotel is entirely restored to historical perfection while raising the bar on modern comforts. I do believe the buffet dinner was the finest I have ever experienced and with five eating places in the facility you can chose what ever ambiance you like. Our room was spotless (did they actually polish the faucets?) and the bed was like floating on a cloud. Everywhere can be found antique furnishings as well as photos from an album collected from 1892. Ancient maps hang on the walls and the decorations for Christmas were outstanding. Friendly staff are everywhere and do all they can to please. With a place this huge a few problems are to be expected such as some confusion over our luggage and the initial failure of the room keys to work but considering the level of excellence surrounding us these were but trifles. There are miles of hiking trails in the wooded hills surrounding the resort. I do not play golf and cannot judge the course (besides at Christmas it was covered with a light atmosphere of snow). The mineral spring indoor pool looked inviting as was the Spa that I also cannot report upon. Internet access was everywhere but our cell phones had no bars so be prepared to escape the world as you should when coming to a place like this. The atmosphere is unequaled; I felt somewhat like being on a cruise ship. There are many interesting places to explore in the historic town of Bedford, PA just a few miles north of the resort. Obviously we need to come back. You must face the fact that such over the top quality as found here will cost you real money........... now what's the story on those points......?

Room Tip: Be patient at check in time since there are hundreds of arriving guests. You might save a little mo...

Stayed December 2012 on the Spa and Food Package (Forget the name of the exact package).

The Resort and Service are excellent. Everyone is super nice, staff pays attention to details, and everything is smooth from check in to check out.

Restaurants - Had dinner in 1796 both nights. Its a general upscale type Steakhouse with fair prices. The Service was top notch and the food was above average. Not the best Steak House I have ever been too, but on par with a Flemings. Expect to pay roughly $70 w/o drinks (which is in line with the package allotment) Drinks at the 1796 and entire resort are a bit steep, but all in all not that bad. I might recommend a few cocktails in the room prior to dinner and/or bar :)

Had Breakfast both mornings at the Crystal Dinning Room and had the buffet. Its very good, no complaints. As normal great service

Spa - The spa is pretty good. Not our favorite spa of all time, but nonetheless a good experience. The bathhouse ritual in the spring water is nice, the waiting (relaxation) room is decently appointed, and our treatments were on par with other resorts/spas. The only complaint I have is the overall atmosphere isn't exceptional. This is not a spa where you would consider spending multiple hours outside of your treatment. No health food bar, no outside areas in the winter, etc... Its the type of spa you come to, hit up the bath ritual, get your treatment and leave. I prefer something a bit more, but overall I would return to this spa

I highly recommend the Eternal Indulgence Package. It feels expensive at first glance. But when you work out the Spa Credit and Food Credit the room rate is exceptional. If your going to eat at the resort (which is a good idea) and use the spa (which is also a good idea) then get this package.

Bottom Line - I will return and am looking forward to it.

Example of the Service - Went for a 14 mile run on the back roads around the resort. When I came back looking a bit disheveled, the head doorman guy offered me waters from the cooler. A simple gesture, but nonetheless an example of the personal treatment.

We've been going to the Bedford Springs Resort for five years-usually at Thanksgiving or just before the Christmas Holidays. The Resort is a great place to "do nothing" and relax. The history of the hotel is very interesting and one of the TV channels goes into depth about the history and restoration, or you can go on a guided history tour of the hotel. There's a spa on-site and several hiking trails into an old growth hemlock forest. My favorite things about the Resort are the numerous places to relax and read a book, the hundreds of pictures and numerous guest registers from the mid to late 1800's, and the beautiful mineral springs indoor pool. Christmas is especially nice because the hotel is wonderfully decorated and has a large display of nutcrackers in all the public areas. All 3 restaurants are very good. The staff is extremely friendly and competent and will take care of all your needs. We look forward to visiting each year!

Room Tip: We prefer to stay in the historic section of the hotel, so if you visit in the winter, be sure to br...

This was our second trip to Bedford Springs Resort - first for a mini honeymoon and this time for a birthday getaway. Knowing it was our second visit, the manager personally took such good care of us, giving us an absolutely beautiful room that was larger than we even expected. We were also greeted with a delicious birthday treat upon our arrival. For dinner we ate in the 1796 room and again the service and cuisine was exceptional. From the valet to the turn-down service, all of the staff was friendly and polite.

Bedford Springs Resort fully lives up to the luxury and class that you would expect from such a place. Having grown up just 1/2 hour away from Bedford, I'm reminded of the natural and simple beauty of the area while also getting to experience it in extreme luxury at the resort. We plan to be back many times as I think we will make this a place to celebrate many milestones!

Room Tip: Both stays we have enjoyed staying in the Spa Wing (the new renovation of the resort)

Upscale but unpretentious, relaxing and beautiful, the Bedford Spring Resort is a gem of a nearby (2.5 hours from DC) getaway that offers more than you can take in over a weekend. We never seem to have enough time there to take in the activities, the spa, the beautiful outdoors, or even to read about all the interesting photos and historical items displayed. The rooms in the new Spa wing are comfortable and beautifully decorated with small but gorgeous bathrooms. The restaurants are elegant, cozy, fun - you choose. We had an amazing breakfast in the Crytal Ballroom that ranks very high on our list for resort buffet breakfasts. The Homestead still holds the honor for me but for my kids it's Bedford Springs Resort now. But don't everyone start going there - the best part about it is that not too many people seem to know about it. Way to go Pennsylvania!
