“Self indulgence at a price”

Overall a great resort but overpriced and a bit too pretentious. The staff is courteous although the waitstaff in the crystal room could be more prompt. The spa is no better than any other I've been to. A good bar and steakhouse.

My wife and I have been going to the Bedford Springs Hotel since we were in college. We would have been married there had they not closed. I would pass by the closed building once or twice a year to reminisce about all of the wonderful weekends we had spent there. You can imagine our joy when it was re-opened by Omni Hotels.

We have spent 6 or 7 weekends at the Omni Bedford Springs Resort in the past few years. We try to make it at least twice a year. By the end of this year, we'll have stayed 4 times. We are NEVER disappointed.

In the Winter and early Spring, the grounds are a white and frost covered painting. The trees and grass glisten with frost. The firepit burns at night while people gather around and talk, drink hot chocolate and other more adult beverages to warm their insides.

The Summer is full of outdoor activities. My wife and I like to rent one of the cabanas by the outdoor pool, which have a pair of lounge chairs in them. The staff will bring us anything from a fruit plate to a full meal, and water with lemon to mojitos. It is a very relaxing way to get some sun and relax.

In the Fall, the mornings are cool and the days are warm. They're perfect for a hike in the woods.

The staff is excellent. They're attentive without be sycofantish. The rooms are elegantly decorated and the beds are comfortable. We always stay in the "original" sections of the hotel. We're nostalgic that way. The spa section of the hotel has rooms that are new since the hotel's re-opening.

We always have room service our first night of every stay. We find that this is the best way to start to relax. The service is quick, the food is excellent and the prices are reasonable. Regarding food, there are several restaurants from which to choose. We opt, most often, for the Frontier Tavern because it offers good food and a relaxed atmosphere. Breakfast at the The Crystal Room has just about everything you could want to eat for your first meal of the day.

Plan ahead when you're ready to leave because it can take a while to get a bellman and your car if a lot of people are departing the hotel at the same time.

Room Tip: Talk to the reservationist and tell him or her what type of room you'd like. They're very we...

If you are considering going, you should stop reading this review and just book it! It is a very beautiful hotel, and so well maintained. We were in a wing built in the early 1800's, and it had a great porch facing the front of the hotel. The furnishings were top-notch, and we had a very nice bathroom. We ate in the Crystal dining room on a Saturday night. Although we normally never eat from a buffet and order from the menu, we tried the buffet. They kept the food in the buffet fresh, and even delicate dishes that included scallops and fish were perfectly cooked and not dried out or overcooked. We enjoyed the outdoor pool, and had it been cool out the indoor pool looked great too. It is an unusual and excellent hotel!

The Omni Bedfordsprings is an amazing hotel. Beautifull location, excellent customer service, and the rooms and the entire hotel where as if you were in a picture. Omni's Power of One customer service was completely evident at this property. Every single person we came in contact with was warm, friendly and offered a smile and help. Our daughter is 15 months old and she was loving the attention. The indoor pool was her favorite. We are defintely going back next year. And the food at Frontier Tavern was fantastic. My husband had the lobster Mac & Chees and I had the salmon Ceasar Salad. I think my husband licked his plate he enjoyed it so much. Our daughter enjoyed eating outside on the patio and then getting to walk up and down the pebble stone path. Thanks Omni for such a wonderful vacation. Wish we could have stayed longer.

My wife and I stayed at Bedford Springs Resort in the summer of 2011. The resort and grounds are lovely, and it seemed every square inch of wall space in the hotel had historic details to take in. The resturants on the premesis were very convenient, but they featured very large portions - so the entrees usually ended up being too much food for us. The food, while mostly delicious, featured a lot of central Pennsylvania fare (rich, starchy offerings). We felt the lobster dinner was only 'OK'. The indoor and outdoor pools were very attractive, but during some times when we were hoping for peaceful poolside relaxing, we were at the mercy of families who brought (and were not managing) their noisy children. Our room was plush and attractive, but the air in our room tended to be damp, despite housekeeping's attempts to adjust it through the A/C. The adjacent golf course was attractive and quality in design, and it reminded us that we REALLY should learn someday to play. The longest of their several hiking trails put us to the test, and we enjoyed getting muddy when it rained on us on our way back to the resort. The spa bath facilities were clean and modern, and the spa staff provided us with good 'hikers massages.'

Room Tip: We suggest choosing a room in the historic portion that overlooks the front of the property. They a...

My wife and I returned from a one night stay at this beautiful resort rested, relaxed, and ready to start a new school year. We had stayed here before several times with and without our 4 children, but this was a quick end of summer get- a -way for the two of us. I cannot say enough about the beauty, service, and overall experience of this resort. From the moment we arrived and stepped into the quiet resort, we experienced top notch and sincere service, as well as excellent relaxing atmosphere. The staff all through the resort is genuinely friendly and helpful. We only stayed 1 night, but time seemed to pass so leisurely we were rested and renewed on our way home. The manager of the Crystal Dining room stopped at our table several times. The spa staff was wonderful for my wife! It was an amazing time!

Room Tip: Be sure to ask for a room in the Spa section with a porch.

My wife and I had a great two night stay recently. Others have commented on the attentive staff, great food, welcoming porches and beautiful, clean rooms, but I would like to add that the historic hotel tour provided by the concierge is a wonderful way to appreciate the historic significance of the hotel. Nancy did a great job showing off the historic areas and explaining the evolution of the hotel facilities. If you are there on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday, don’t hesitate to take advantage of it.

Room Tip: Everyone in our party loved the porches on the historic side.
