“Excellent! Best in the area by far”
Reviewed October 2, 2013

We stayed at the Golden Eagle Inn this past weekend and it was by far the best stay in Bedford we've ever had! The new owners are extremely attentive, friendly and accommodating. We stayed in the Penn Family Suite which is on the top floor of the Inn. It is a great suite if you have kids like we do. From the minute we arrived, the owners went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable. Tom brought water and a basket of delicious honey crisp apples to our room as soon as we got in which was very welcomed after a somewhat long drive. The breakfast on both Saturday and Sunday morning was probably the best breakfast I've ever had. We had dinner at the Inn on Saturday night and everyone was very happy with the quality. The portions were perfect and the taste was amazing.

One thing we were surprised and very happy about is that my youngest daughter has multiple food allergies and the owners were very accommodating for her food selections. I had listed the allergies on the form when we reserved the room and Tom was able to list them all when we sat down for breakfast the first morning. He selected a perfect meal for her within her food restrictions. The fact that he continuously remembered exactly what her dietary restrictions were was quite impressive.

The cleanliness of the inn and the quality of the interior furnishings was excellent. Overall, the Inn has a very nice, relaxing "vibe". I can't wait to stay again. We have stayed at "other" Inn's etc. in the area including the largest and my wife and I both agree that the Golden Eagle Inn is better than any other place to stay in Bedford by far.

I hope more locals take advantage of the dinner menu and excellent chefs at the Inn. I'm sure it wont be long until everyone realizes the quality here and it will be hard to book a room or dinner.

Had an opportunity to stay at the Golden Eagle Inn in Bedford, PA. The owners and staff were amazing! They took such great care of us. Above and beyond care. We will definitely always stay at the Golden Eagle when visiting. An added bonus is their food is just as amazing. Can't say enough about the Golden Eagle Inn.

Upon arriving much later than planned our host Tom was still up waiting for us. He led us to our lodging for the night, brought water and inquired about a time for breakfast. We felt welcomed from the time we stepped over the doorway. Breakfast was amazing! The homemade sausage was delicious, lots of fruit, juice, coffee and the presentation was beautiful! Our hostess, Mary Jane suggested some local sites to consider. We visited the National Coverlet Museum, a hidden gem of history and charm. We will be returning to Bedford in the future and certainly will call on Tom and Mary Jane for reservations

We recently stayed at the historic Golden Eagle Inn in Bedford, PA. We reserved the John Anderson room and were surprised to learn that John Anderson built and lived in the house that is now the hotel, founded the Bedford Springs resort (a great place for brunch and a hike through the woods), and also built the beautiful house next door to the hotel. Our room was excellent in every way - great king-size bed, ceilings about 12' high, huge fireplace, great bathroom with shower. Although we didn't have the full breakfast that was included in the price, we did enjoy some really good coffee, orange juice, and muffins. The innkeepers Tom and Carol couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. I can't imagine staying anywhere else in Bedford, especially since the hotel is located smack in the middle of Bedford's historic center. Lots of places to see and visit nearby, too.

What a wonderful surprise to find such a delightful, comfortable place right in the historic downtown of Bedford. Infinitely better than the chain hotel we mistakenly stayed in on our first visit to Bedford. The owners are extremely gracious and accommodating. The rooms are clean and well-appointed in both the eighteenth century and nineteenth century parts of the house. Ours was roomy with a large bed, wi-fi and newly renovated bathroom.
The restaurant is fantastic, the food is delicious, the cook creative and enthusiastic about pleasing the diners. They make spectacular martinis. A touch of Manhattan sophistication in the heart of historic Bedford.

Stayed a extra day as the beautiful historic B & B along with the hosts made it so enjoyable.

Breakfast (scrumptious) was served on the lovely verandah and dinning in the restaurant was a great experience.

Room Tip: All rooms are fine and well fitted out.

We stayed two nights over Labor Day weekend. From the moment we arrived, everyone was so nice and took great care of us. And the owners paid special attention to my mother in law, which was very helpful and she really appreciated it. The inn has a profound historical feel to it. The rooms were nicely laid out, comfortable, clean and welcoming. We stayed in the Thaddeus and the Addison - both very nice and right next to each other. We really enjoyed the sun porch, just outside our rooms, where we had several glasses of good wine and a very nice cheese plate. Good beer selection too. We did spend a lot of time on the sun porch and it was very relaxing.

And we had a great dinner at the Golden Eagle! We all agreed that the Pumpkin Soup was amazing, as were each of our entrees. No doubt, a very talented chef. Again, nice wine list. :)

We had our breakfast, both mornings, on the sun porch, which made it so nice for us. It was a little bit more private and simply an excellent setting for breakfast. Buckwheat pancakes, bacon and french toast - served in a rustic manner- with juice, coffee, and fruit.. absolutely delicious!

Bedford is a cool little town. A nice place to stroll and explore. Candy stores, quilt shops, and an old theater right accross the street from the Golden Eagle Inn. We especially liked the Fort Bedford Museum and the Old Bedford Village, which is located just outside of town. If you enjoy early American history, it's a good bet you'll love Bedford and the Golden Eagle Inn.
