LIFeSTYLE is an Italian store during the day that turns into a dining experience on Saturday nights and for private parties during the weeknights. I say experience because it is not like a normal dinner at a restaurant. The products are exchanged for place settings that are put on one or two tables down the center of the store. As separate groups file in for the 7:30 dinner, everyone takes a place and the meal is introduced by Stefano, the owner and chef. The trattoria dinner starts out with a primi piatti which is usually crostini. The evening I attended, we had a sausage and gorgonzola cheese crostini what was toasted, served warm and very tasty. The second course was a spicy broccoli pasta with olive oil. Stefano likes to use fresh ingredients and you could easily tell, it was light and well balanced.
For the main course, Stefano served a chicken thigh that had been sauteed and then baked with sauteed onions, peppers, eggplant, and tomatoes. The chicken was moist and the vegetables were both colorful and flavorful. The cheese plate was a fun addition to separate the main course and desert. Stefano comes out to explain the 3 cheeses that are served, where they are from and what they are made from along with the pairings that are served with them. Lastly, we were served desert which was a chocolate salami, a fudge type cake with cookies that I loved, and expresso.
As the dinner went on and the wine bottles were opened (it is a byob but Stefano suggests a wine that will compliment the meal) everyone gets to know each other and has a unique experience depending on the people that are there on that particular evening. LIFeSTYLE is a gem in a small town that is one place that I would highly recommend. Make sure you make a reservation in advance because the Saturday dinners usually fill up quick, with only 24 seats available.
