“Home away from home”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 30, 2012

We have been renting the cottage here for many years. The kids love it, they have paddleboats, fishing, basketball, hayrides, popcorn roasts, a fun barn, two pools and two general stores. The ice cream is heavenly. We have also rented the tent sites near the lake. The children have made many friends and talk about when we are going back again all year. The also have laundry facilities, and a church service in the barn on Sunday mornings. All of the staff are very nice - you couldn't ask for a nicer place to take the kids camping.

Room Tip: The cottages are great if you don't want to do the tent thing.

Site is very neat and tidy, toilet block very clean. Full rv facilities, and lyndsey who checked us in was so polite and friendly.
It's a great location with great facilities, thank you so much for a nice comfortable and quiet night.

We visited this campground on a last minute July 4th getaway. Check in was easy and the price was good. The bathrooms were super clean. We were on a water & electric only site and it was tight. There was no privacy from our neighbors. If you go, ask for a full hook-up site even if you don't need it. You'll be looking at your neighbors trailer but not into their campfire. And, there is no limit to tents on the sites so you could have a huge group next to you even if it's one site. Thankfully, our neighbors were o.k. If you go, make sure you travel west on 30 to Wolfsburg to visit the Jean Bonnet Tavern. It had great food, service and atmosphere. We also traveled north of Altoona and took the kids to the Degrosso Amusement park - our small kids loved it. Finally, several covered bridges in the area that we visited. Overall, it was a great area to visit for a last minute trip.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Located in historic and beautiful Bedford County, Pennsylvania, where we have more covered bridges than stoplights! Life here seems to move at a slower pace, and we like it that way. We're family-oriented, providing activities and games for everyone, so be sure to bring the kids and grandkids along! Our park is "big rig friendly," offering shaded and non-shaded sites, with a variety of pull thru and site hook-ups available. We even have campsites along our lower lake and beside the trout stream. Bedford County offers plenty to do and see, but many guests come here just to relax. You can challenge your companions to a round of miniature golf or a game of laser tag, swim in our 2 pools, play shuffleboard or horseshoes, walk or bike the 1/2 mile track around our 5 acre lake, or paddle a boat on our lower lake. Fishermen will love to test their skills with the bass stocked in our lakes. Everyone is welcome to our Saturday Night "Gospel Sings" held in the old barn. Afterwards, enjoy fresh, popped popcorn made over an open campfire in a large black kettle. We're freeway-close, just two miles off the Pennsylvania Turnpike at Exit 146, but a world away from what you know. Whether you're here just for the night, or plan an extended stay, come see us at Friendship Village Campground and RV Park. ... more   less
