“Overpriced”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 25, 2013

My friend and I enjoyed the vibe of this restaurant, but not the freezing air conditioning! My wild mushroom soup was good but needed a lot of salt. The rosemary infused bread with sea salt butter was delicious. My chicken was dry, and the lemon butter sauce didn't have enough taste. The fresh cut fries were so-so. My friend's steak wasn't cooked to order. She ordered two sides and couldn't finish most of it. There was too much asparagus. Nothing on the dessert menu spoke to us. All in all, for the astronomical prices, we expected much better quality.

“Great steak always comes at a price-but well worth it here!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 22, 2013

Dining at 1796 in the Omni Bedford Springs Resort is a terrific steakhouse experience. First, we were immediately charmed by the tailored rustic atmosphere as we entered the cozy dining room lined with original coverlets used in the hotel during the 1800s. The wait staff was both friendly and knowledgable of the menu and wine selections. I adored my heirloom tomato and feta cheese salad. The balsamic drizzle was both pungent and sweet. 3 of 4 in our party ordered the 12 ounce NY strip, each perfectly cooked to our individual preferences. We over ordered on the accompaniments (baked potato, baked sweet potato, infused potatoes, asparagus, creamed spinach and onion rings) so it was nearly impossible to finish our steaks. Thankfully, we had a refrigerator in our room so we are looking forward to steak and eggs when we head home today. Our other dinner guest ordered the lamb chops and was very pleased. There isn't a delicate way to finish off a delicious lamp chop and she enjoyed every succulent bite. Considering the enormous amount of food, we still made room for 1 dessert ( a moist blackberry cobbler, served piping hot with vanilla ice cream ) and a couple of cappuccinos. I must add that the cookie, not quit a biscotti, that was served with the cappuccino was incredibly tasty. I can't quite describe the flavor ( perhaps I should have asked) but could have easily enjoyed a second. All in all it was a wonderful dining experience to complete a lovely stay at this beautiful hotel.

“Perfect Food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 3, 2013

Everything they make is fabulous. I had the mini-iceberg salad with blue cheese and bacon and will not go back without ordering that again. The pork loin appetizer was also a hit as was the quail. You can't go wrong here, pricey, but worth it.

“Surprisingly good steak house at a resort”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 21, 2013 via mobile

I don't have high expectations for restaurants at hotels and resorts so I was happily surprised by this one. The food was great, our steaks were wonderful, but good as it was, the service was even better! The entire resort staff treated us like royalty, but the restaurant staff were even better! It was a wonderful place to spend our birthdays. Thank you all for a great night!

“Exquisite in every way”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 17, 2013

From the service to the first offering to the dessert, this place is truly 5-star worthy. Beautiful wine list, historic ambience, stellar service and delectable food...everything you want.
They truly have the best steak we have ever enjoyed...and we've been to some pretty key steak places.
The place is small, so you have to have a reservation and it is a bit pricey, but the quality and fine experience justifies the price.
This is a wonderful experience!
