Dining at 1796 in the Omni Bedford Springs Resort is a terrific steakhouse experience. First, we were immediately charmed by the tailored rustic atmosphere as we entered the cozy dining room lined with original coverlets used in the hotel during the 1800s. The wait staff was both friendly and knowledgable of the menu and wine selections. I adored my heirloom tomato and feta cheese salad. The balsamic drizzle was both pungent and sweet. 3 of 4 in our party ordered the 12 ounce NY strip, each perfectly cooked to our individual preferences. We over ordered on the accompaniments (baked potato, baked sweet potato, infused potatoes, asparagus, creamed spinach and onion rings) so it was nearly impossible to finish our steaks. Thankfully, we had a refrigerator in our room so we are looking forward to steak and eggs when we head home today. Our other dinner guest ordered the lamb chops and was very pleased. There isn't a delicate way to finish off a delicious lamp chop and she enjoyed every succulent bite. Considering the enormous amount of food, we still made room for 1 dessert ( a moist blackberry cobbler, served piping hot with vanilla ice cream ) and a couple of cappuccinos. I must add that the cookie, not quit a biscotti, that was served with the cappuccino was incredibly tasty. I can't quite describe the flavor ( perhaps I should have asked) but could have easily enjoyed a second. All in all it was a wonderful dining experience to complete a lovely stay at this beautiful hotel.
