Can be seen from the Pennsylvania Turnpike, but a little difficult to find after exiting at Bedford without GPS or asking for directions locally. Definitely worth the effort. Very historical building that has been splendidly restored. Had a wonderful dinner highlighted by a most pleasant conversation with the owner, who was very visible in the dining room. Nice to see a young couple take some risks and turn dreams into reality. A very nice gift shop has been recently added with quality products from local artists.

So if you want to go here for lunch, you don't need a reservation. We called ahead but it was unnecessary as there were plenty of tables and booths upon arrival. We received immediate and friendly service, which was a little formal for the time of day but maybe they just really appreciate their customers. Anyway, their draft beer selection was surprising with choices from Weyerbacher and Dogfish Head. The food was actually pretty good. We had the corn & crab chowder which had large pieces of crab in it. Also tasted a lunch special, the tavern fish, which was just fish & chips, but really good and mild. Also, I despise coleslaw, but after reluctantly tasting it, I am shocked to reveal the fact that it was really good. The surf & turf sandwich sounds ridiculous but it was enjoyable (and huge!). Basically, it's just a burger and its accoutrements with a crab cake on top of the burger. For $12.00 you kind of can't beat it and hey...you won't have to eat for the rest of the day. Since we were just passing through the area, we were happy to find a casual lunch spot before hitting the road.

while traveling through bedford, pa. we ate dinner here. the food was average at best but was overpriced for the quality of the food we received. the decor was a mixture of a tavern and a sports bar.

I have been hearing great things about this restaurant for many years so my family and i finally went. When we got there the building was pretty busy, but when we walked in the staff was really nice and said have a seat anywhere and we will be right with you. We made our way into the tavern and it was a full so a guy come up to us and said it might be a wait for a table because we had 7 people. He suggested that we sit outside so we did. i guess i had rained earlier that day and the tables were wet so we waited outside and no one came out to help us wipe tables down a table. so my wife walked back inside and asked the gentleman that told us to sit outside if we could have the tables wiped down. He said to my wife with an attitude, " o you want that table wiped off"., so my wife came back out and told us what happened. we decided to stay even-though we were left standing outside for another ten minutes. Thankfully our sever was very nice and apologized for the rudeness, then we asked who he was and she said that is Brandon one of our managers. She was a little embarrassed it seemed that he acted like that, but the food and server made up for it. But we probably wont be back if we have to deal with Brandon again.

We appreciate your feedback and apologize sincerely for the confusion around getting you seated. What you have described seems extremely out of character for Brandon, who has been a very responisble, friendly and hardworking member of the Jean Bonnet Team for many years. I believe there may have been a misunderstanding that led to this situation. We value our guests very much and wish to always make visitors fell welcome at our establishment. We also value our employees and are sad to see that one of our staff offended you. We will use your feedback to continue to try to be the best we can be!
