“Best buffet breakfast”
Reviewed September 23, 2011

I'll save the best for last.

Yes, this is an older property but I did not see evidence of its age in terms of the decor, furnishings or appearance. The rooms do not have inside entrances. The upkeep and landscaping was outstanding. The outside pool was separated from the hot tub by its own fence. There were a few lounge chairs as well as tables with umbrellas. The hot tub had its own covered area with lattice and built in wooden seats. The view of the well maintained lawn was picturesque. The paint colors of the outside doors and walls was very nice.

The room was clean and well maintained, There was a coffee maker but no microwave or fridge. An iron and board were near the second sink, outside of the bathroom. There was a small table with two chairs. No closet but an open area to hang garments.

The lobby had a few seats with a large screen tv that needs to be replaced due to its very poor picture quality. The staff was knowledgeable about the local area and helpful.

Upon check in, I was given a receipt/coupon for a free buffet breakfast at the adjacent restaurant. Entrance to the restaurant can be made via the lobby or outside from the parking lot.

Being that this is a restaurant the breakfast offerings were plentiful and not at all like a "hotel only" breakfast. That said, there was a waffle machine to make your own but there were pancakes, eggs, bacon, toast, muffins among others. If I recall correctly there were also potatoes but I may be confusing that with a paid for buffet breakfast that I had the next day in a different city. The breakfast (my favorite meal) made the overall experience of my stay here, that much more pleaasant.

As others have posted, this is an older property but it is well maintained and shows no signs of its age.

Room Tip: There are rooms with doors that face the pool and hot tub and not in sight of the parking lot if tha...

The staff is very friendly and helpful, and the breakfast buffet was good, but the hotel needs some TLC. The hotel has 2 floors. Our room looked as if there had been water damage from the 2nd floor as the walls puckered in places and the room had a mildew smell - this is not an ideal environment for a child with allergies.

My husband, son and I had reserved a room well in advance of our overnight at this Best Western in Bedford, Pa. When booking the room, we had specifically requested a non-smoking room. However, when we arrived that night, the desk clerk claimed that only a smoking room was available. We reminded him of our advance reservation, but to no avail. Since it was late - and we had a long drive the following day - we decided to stay...but will never stay there again. Not only did the room reek of stale cigarette smoke, but so did the bed linens. Just as frustrating was the fact that only hot water flowed out of the sink faucet, making us wonder how often this room (#168) was actually used. Not that often, perhaps, as my husband squashed a huge roach on the way into the bathroom. About the only good thing I can say about this inn is that it offered a decent, hot breakfast buffet before we took off.

Don't expect a new hotel here, the hotel is old, the tv is old, the mattresses are old. This place needs an upgrade to bring it up to todays minimum standards expected at a hotel. Don't get me wrong, it is fine, it is clean, just don't expect it to be modern. The attached restaurant / dining room is a bonus, and breakfast is served buffet style in this dining room using a voucher system. There are no microwaves or fridges in the rooms, which surprised me in this day and age. Although they do offer free bags of ice if you ask for them.
The WiFi was poor so if internet is important to you, then be prepared to be disconnected several times and a slow connection while you are connected. Again in this day and age, I can never understand why so many hotels we stay in have poor WiFi.

My wife and I stayed for one night. As indicated by other reviewers, the facility is old but well-maintained, and the rooms were clean. We ate at the restaurant since it was convenient. The food was honestly better than I had anticipated, and certainly reasonably priced. The breakfast buffet was very generous.

What the room wasn't, was quiet. Unfortunately, as I learned upon checking out, the facility attracts a lot of groups and organizations. Our room opened out to the parking lot, and it also had a rear door that opened to another walkway. Both of these venues attracted groups of individuals who wanted to smoke, continue an earlier conversation, or make plans for the day. This occurred late at night, and early (5:30 AM) in the morning. It was impossible to ignore the noise.

I mentioned the situation upon checking out, and the clerk apologized and said that they can't control people who are inconsiderate. I understand that, but it doesn't change the situation at all.

If you do choose to stay, it might be advisable to check in advance to see if there will be any large groups expected. Also ask for a room that has only one entrance/exit.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with only one door.

My Husand an dI stopped here on our way to Ohio. Rooms were clean and very spacious. The free breakfast buffet can't be beat. Plenty of hot choices. Wish we had time to sit by the pool it was beautiful. Highly recommend you can't go wrong.
