We really enjoyed eating here. The prices were so good compared to NY and the food was good and the staff was very nice. Can't wait to eat there again!

If you want to bring your toaster oven and stop at a local supermarket - do that.

Everything from the frozen section at a supermarket.

Purdue Chicken for the kids; SMILEY fries; Frozen hot pepper poppers; frozen pizza ...

HOWEVER ... while service very slow - I think waitress also cooks - they were very nice and put on children's cartoon on one of the TV's ...

But still - SMILEY's as the "french fry?

We decided to try the Serengeti after reading reviews of unique restaurants in the Bartonsville, Pennsylvania area. Well, during our three day stay, we ate at the Serengeti (located in the Howard Johnson Hotel) three times: one breakfast, one lunch, and one dinner: Eggs Benedict, three choices of scrumptious homemade soups (French onion, New England clam chowder---better than Massachusetts, Maine, etc. lots of clams and served piping hot!---and a third choice of the soup of the day. Also enjoyed a delicious broiled orange roughy with buerre bernaise, amazing crab stuffed mushrooms topped with mozzarella, and a mouth-watering delmonico steak with roast beef jus lie.

Prices were very reasonable and the plant canopy ceiling provided a jungle ambience. For the sports' enthusiasts, the game of the day was playing both in the bar and dining room area.

The sparse wait staff of only two was very friendly and courteous---a bit slow as the Howard Johnson's manager appears to wear many hats and one as waiter---but, hey, we're on vacation so we are willing to chill abit and not expect everything to be 5-star! Nothing pretentious at the Serengeti...just great food at great prices, and a pleasant dining experience!

If you're staying in the area Serengeti Bar & Grill is a must see, especially if you're into once in a lifetime opportunities. From the tropical canopy ceiling to the rhino staring at you as you wait and wait for a table until THE waitress appears, it's worth every cent and minute. Service is slow to say the least but how much can you ask of one waitress? On the bright side the wings were very good, as was the beer selection both on tap and bottled, $7 domestic pitchers including yuengling was an unexpected bonus. The chicken scampi was surprisingly tasty as was the obviously perviously frozen Canary Island Ahi Tuna Steak (apparently tuna isn't quite indigenous to the Delaware water gap). In my opinion if you're coming to Bartonsville you better be up for an adventure and Serengeti is the place to find it.
