“Breathtaking”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2012

In our personal view if you go up to the top of the Cape Perpetua area you will see the beat view point on the Oregon coast. You can either drive up or hike up the trail. At the visitors center below you can access several trails to hike from easy to difficult. We visit here every time we travel the Oregon coast

“Both Dramatic and Restful: Whales Maybe”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 18, 2012

This is a great scenic area, with very helpful explanatory exhibits. We did see blue whales on the turnout just north of Cape Perpetua. Also enjoyed short hikes through the forest and down to the beach. Low tide is good for tidepools. High tide for crashing surf. Check the tide tables.

“Photo Paradise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 16, 2012

Don't just go to the one scenic area with the coffee stand out front. Go to Cook's Chasm and the trail heads where the highway allows a pullout. There are beautiful geyser-like scenes, beaches, etc.

“Diverse Scenery in a Manageable Area”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 12, 2012

We spent almost two days in Yachats, and most of the time we were exploring the beauty of this coastal area. Saw sea lions lazing on large rock outcroppings one day, then returned at high tide the next to see some of them frolicking in the water. We watched Spouting Horn spout for almost an hour, and spent a long time in another area just soaking in the peaceful wildness of the waves crashing on the rocks. The people at the visitors' center were very friendly and helpful, directing us to handicap accessible areas. The wind often blew, so a hat or hood is recommended. (We didn't even think about this but found a perfect knit hat for my husband at the Yachats Mercantile - a store on my favorites list.

Beautiful scenery and easy walking distance to see the beauty that is at this spot. Even at this time of year, it was pleasant.
