“Thank you for bringing back the Kite Festival”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 12, 2011

We always took our children to the Kite Festival when they were small, but then they stopped having it for years. We were so happy to go to Yachats over Labor Day and see the return of this fun event--on the beautiful bay at the edge of town. Fabulous kites! We could even watch them from our lunch in the Drift Inn! Our 2-yr-old grandson simply loved it!

“There is no coast line more interesting and beautiful”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 25, 2011

We have seen seals and whales, tide pools with colorful sea life! The beaches are pristine and so accessible from the many public parks. You can walk for miles and never feel there are too many people!
The water is cold, the wind often strong, the dew in the morning refreshing! It's heaven on earth!

“Less crowded, central location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 30, 2011

I've visited the Oregon with the in-laws and they always choose a rental home in Yachats over Newport or the other more popular Coastal towns. This town is less crowded and is a centralized location to all the Oregon Coast attractions.

“Our Favorite place on the OR coast”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 8, 2009

Yachats is a sweet little town with locally owned restaurants and shops and wonderful beachs for playing. There are NO big box stores, no fast food, and no traffic (except on 4th of July)

The Ocean Wayside beach is a great beach for young kids to play, for kite flying and for relaxing. It is a small beach, so parents can relax while keeping kids in site.Plenty of rocks to climb, tidepools to explore and the river to play in.

The Adobe and Overleaf are the nicer hotels, the Fireside, Yachats Inn and Shamrock Lodgettes can be a little funky in a charming way.

We like the Green Salmon Coffee House, the candy shop, and Roy's Blue Whale for everyday eating. The Adob is lovely for a fancier dinner.

“Check out the rocks behind the Fireside Motel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 11, 2009

Sea stars, anemones, mussels and small fish--these are just a few of the beautiful creatures you will find in the tide pools on the rocks behind the Fireside Motel. But check a tide table before you go out, and hike along the rocky shore with great care. There are plenty of places to slip and fall if you're not careful. If you're not up for a little rock hopping, there is a nice path winding between the motel and the rocky shore (which includes sitting areas) that provides some beautiful views of the ocean (but not the tide pools).
