My wife, our son and I spent three nights at Royal Chinook East in June. This is a nice, clean, newer two bedroom unit with views of the ocean. It is next to Yachats State Park. This is a very small park. Would not find anything like it in Idaho. The park includes some beach and shoreline. Walked to the park and saw two gray whales (cow and calf) feeding near shore. Yes, Royal Chinook East was very nice unit. It is well equipped with towels, bedding and cooking gear. Loved the wood stove (with wood), deck with chairs and handy laundry nook. Garage is a plus. The unit is a duplex, but our fellow guests were friendly and quiet. Yachats makes people friendly. It was easy to talk to locals and visitors and strangers on the street or beach. Kitchen could use more coffee mugs. If you don't drink coffee, there's hot chocolate on a cold fall or winter night with the stove roaring and the surf grinding outside. Yes, we would come back here anytime to watch whales, visit lighthouses, watch seabirds and sink into the rhythm of life along the shore.
