“Great View in a Great part of the USA”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 7, 2008

We just returned from 3 night stay at Overleaf. Definetly too short. The Rooms are spacious and clean with great views. Some times you stay at an oceanfront hotel and the sound of the surf gets too loud at night. This is not true here. There is a great path to take a relaxing walk next to the beach and go down to the tide pools during low tide. The complimentry breakfast was wonderful. It had a great selection of cold and hot foods. The staff was very friendly with a couple of exceptions.

The town of Yachats is a very cute. We had a great dinner at the River Inn. Great seafood! Wine list was nice too.

I will put this on my repeat list. But I will make it a longer stay next time.

  • Disliked — Distance from a major airport. Portland is about 3hrs Eugene about 2. The drive is great though

We found out about the Overleaf from Trip Advisor, called and made reservations for 2 nights. After a long drive from No. Calif. up to Yachats, we were absolutely surprised and overjoyed by what we found in this wonderful place. The lodge was attractive on the outside with well kept grounds. We were greeted by friendly and very helpful staff. The Overleaf abuts the ocean with tons of windows, giving a beautiful view of the ocean. Our room was very comfortable and clean with perfect view of the coast. A delicious breakfast is included - and I mean delicious. The dining area is adjoined to the lobby and looks directly out at the ocean. There is walking trail and tidepools to explore with many sightseeing experiences nearby.

Included with the stay is free access to the spa: hot tub, warm water soaking pool, and sauna/steam room/showers (separated for men and women). We used the spa 2 times - imagine sitting in the water looking out at the ocean waves crashing into the rocks below! Also available are for fee massages and individualized spa amenities which we did not use.

The room had a microwave, coffee maker and small refrigerator. They also have a DVD player (ours needed work). The TV volume was regulated which was a downer for a hearing impaired person like me.

We plan to stay at the Overleaf again. We were so impressed we purchased a 2 night stay, with massage treatments, for our son who just graduated from the University of Oregon.

  • Liked — Great view and comfort
  • Disliked — Limited TV volume and DVD player not working properly

This hotel was the BEST. We stayed two nights in a Whale Watchers room and I'm sorry it wasn't more. A private balcony overlooking a rocky coast with waves crashing in all around is my idea of heaven.
The room was very clean. The bathroom had grab bars and a shower rod that curved out which prevents the wet shower curtain from sticking to your body. There was a rubber bath mat inside the tub. Great safety features.
The continental breakfast was one of the best I've ever seen with a huge variety. There were flaky scones, cinnamon rolls, various cold cereals, hot 5-grain cereal, scrambled eggs with sausage, tortillas, English muffins, juices, coffee, tea, milk and fresh fruit salad.
My daughter enjoyed walking the trails. The landscaping is attractive.
If I ever come back to Oregon, I would make this hotel my base and not bother staying anywhere else.
Our total daily rate was $132. What a bargain!
By all means, stay here. We LOVED this place.

Indeed this lodge is heaven by the sea. On a recent trip I stayed just one night in the sunset suite while on a journey down the coast. Next time I'll stay two or more nights.

My wife and I just returned from a 5 day trip to the overleaf. We were celebrating her 50th birthday. We loved our room, we stayed in a restless waters suite. Great view, lots of really hot water for the jaccuzzi, gas fire place, private balcony. We were on the 3rd floor very quiet! The only noise we heard from our room was the surf hitting the rocks.
I didnt try out the spa until the day before we left. I wish i had gone in on the first day. the steam room and sauna were clean and I was the only one there both times I went. Nice big shower, lots of towels, Iced lemon water, iced towelettes for your face and neck. The soaking tubs are a must. The small one very hot!
The larger soaking pool was the perfect temp for a long soak. the spa is on the 3rd floor and has probably the best view from the hotel.
Yachats has a some good places to eat. there is a mexican place that serves really good food. "Not much of a view" The nite we were there, they had a man playing guitar and singing. " he was very good' fun:) There is a hotel called the ADOBE, if you walk south about half a mile on the walking path behind the hotel you will run into the adobe hotel. The have a bar and a dinning room that is about 30 feet from the rocks on the beach. Great staff, decent food, unbelievable view. It was very nice to have a couple of cocktails, or glasses of wine and not have to get in the car to drive back to our room. 5 or 10 minute walk along the beach path depending on your walking speed.

Trip Advisor had listed this hotel as a "Hidden Gem," and it made me want to check it out. Being from the Portland area, it wasn't too far to go and was a nice getaway for a couple of nights.

We stayed in the Restless Waters room, which had a jacuzzi tub overlooking the ocean and a fireplace. The weather wasn't great while we were there, and there isn't much to do in Yachats, which made this the perfect room to hang out and relax in.

The front desk staff was very nice and helpful. The included breakfast was better than most continental breakfasts and included warm foods as well. The soaps and bath products provided in the rooms were Aveda, which is a nice touch.

My only complaints are that when we first checked in, the jacuzzi tub was out of hot water and its drain wouldn't stay closed. We were able to fix the drain with a little effort but didn't get to use the tub until the next morning. Also, we were on the second floor, and the people above us were pretty noisy. It might be worth requesting a room on the third floor in the future.

  • Liked — the room, the jacuzzi tub, & the view
  • Disliked — not much to do or eat in Yachats, especially on a Monday when everything is closed

My husband and I stayed here for our first anniverary and were pleasently surprised. The room we stayed in was really large, very clean and complete with a fireplace, mini kitchen, living suite area and of course the bed side, ocean view jacuzzi tub.
The breakfast is great- real food. The location is excellent and there is a great walking path to the tide pools.
The service was also outstanding- will go again.
