We absolutely love summer on the Oregon coast. The Overleaf Lodge is our most favorite place to stay. Every room is awesome. You are perched on the rocks at ocean front. You never know what the weather will be like but it does'nt matter at the Overleaf. Jump into the hot tub and watch the waves break on the rocks. Very romantic! The rooms are always clean and the grounds are beautiful. LOVE IT !!

Room Tip: W stayed on the third floor. It was great for ocean watching and sunsets. Hot tub rooms are very rom...

We are all so happy that you continue to stay at the Overleaf Lodge & Spa and continue to thoroughly enjoy all we have to offer. I agree with you that it really doesn't matter what the weather is like, it is always beautiful here and the unpredictability and majesty of our coastline constantly keeps that sense of wonderment alive.

We chose the Overleaf Lodge based on a recommendation from the staff at The Inn at Cannon Beach (another great place to stay). We loved it. On a week-long family trip to Oregon, we celebrated our 20th anniversary night at the Overleaf. That was definitely the right choice for We stayed on the ground floor in Cooks Galley (2 queens + sofa bed). The room was very spacious with large windows and a sliding glass door that opens right out to the ocean. The view is incredible. The children loved exploring all over the rocks. They have benches along the shoreline where you can sit and have a romantic moment watching the sunset or just enjoying the rolling waves. The staff is friendly and helpful. The children enjoyed the exercise room. Breakfast was very good (soufflé and granola were nice touches). Of all of the places we stayed on our 8 day trip, this was one of our favorites!

A few recommendations and points to note: Get there with enough time to enjoy it (one thing that makes this place so great is its location right on the ocean front). The oceanfront is large rocks as opposed to sandy beaches (gives a nice variety as you drive the coast). You will be charged extra for each person over 2 (this was a little disappointing, but still worth the stay). Depending on what day you stay, Yachats some restaurants may be closed (there are 2 that were always closed Tuesdays). We ended up driving to the town to the north were we ate a great meal at the Crestview Golf Club (I recommend eating there). Find out when low tide is and visit the Yaquina Lighthouse tidal pools – simply amazing (22 miles north of Yachats in Newport). Also visit the Cape Perpetua area if you have time (just south of Yachats).

Room Tip: We enjoyed having a patio room that allowed us direct access to the ocean. The cooks galley was mor...

Thank you for celebrating your 20th anniversary at the Overleaf Lodge. We love knowing that we were one of your favorite places on your 8 day trip. Our 1st floor Cook’s Galley is a spacious room that will sleep up to 6 people. It also features a kitchenette, fireplace and a patio. Our room rates are based on 1-2 guests per room. We do charge a nominal fee for additional guests over the age of 6. This small fee covers the extra costs of our great breakfast, use of the spa facilities, additional linens and housekeeping services.
We are happy to read about how much fun you and your children had while staying with us. The tidal pools are always of great interest to kids of all ages. As you noted, there are several areas along the 804 trail that have benches to encourage people to take a moment to simply enjoy a gorgeous sunset, whale watching, or the raw power of the waves crashing against the rocks. By the way, you took a lovely picture of the sunset.

That's not to say its exceptional on a broader scale, just exceptional for Yachats. Pretty average for someone who's experienced truly exceptional lodging though. The grounds are extremely well-maintained. The rooms are well-appointed, but average. Details such as wine glasses, salt, pepper and the like are supplied, which is a nice touch. Views are above average. Staff are friendly but lack basic knowledge of the things the town has to offer to visitors. Breakfast was healthy and well-executed, but dull and lacking in anything remotely resembling a wow. No meat to be found on the menu for the morning we stayed.

Some tips on becoming exceptional would be to offer a wine and cheese hour in the evening. Milk and fresh cookies at the eight o'clock hour would be nice. Ask the chef to taste the food and season it a bit. Ask employees not to roam the grounds in their uniform while talking on their personal cell phones and sitting in the one scenic overlook bench available to guests...stuff like that.

Very nice. Clean rooms, very quiet. Grounds well maintained. Trail was a nice bonus to walk on. The only draw back is that there isn't a restaurant on sight. The adobe next door is not a restaurant that should be recommended upon arrival. It's dark, run down and the menu leaves something to be desired. You would be happier buying snacks from the pantry and staying in your room.

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay at the Overleaf Lodge & Spa. We are glad to read that you enjoyed our facility and grounds. Our landscape artist does a wonderful job of giving our grounds a beauty that is comparable to our stunning coastline. Some of our guests do prefer to just remain on the property for their meals. We do provide our wonderful, home-cooked breakfast every day and we also have a nice selection of frozen foods that can be prepared in the room. Chicken Gorgonzola, Mojito Salmon, Beef Bourguignon, and Shepherd’s Pie are just a few of the selections we have on offer. For the guests that do want to go out on the town, Yachats has about 7 restaurants, all within one mile of the Overleaf Lodge.

This was a great place. We discovered it by accident and it was a place we were sorry to leave. The king room had an excellent layout and I was treated by seeing whales from my balcony. We were cold after a day of riding a motorcycle and the in room fireplace was very welcoming. The beach is filled with large rock formations and we enjoyed watching the waves come in. They have a spa which we didn't use and they do not have a restaurant, but there is a good one within walking distance down the beach. They have a guest laundry, which is important to us as motorcycle riders. Breakfast is included and the food tries to be better than most but was not my style, although it was good. All in all this place did not disappoint and I would recommend it to anyone without hesitation.

Room Tip: Make sure you get a beach view that is higher up although all are good

What an introduction to the Oregon Coast. Breathtakingly beautiful. Rooms comfortable and waking up to the ocean was magic. Staff very courteous. Being able to walk along the waters edge among rocks was wonderful. I am ready to return in a heartbeat.

The sound of the ocean crashing against the rocks outside our room guaranteed an excellent night of sleep. The room was clean and well appointed. Our room had a beautiful balcony overlooking the ocean below as well as a fireplace. There's a walking trail right outside the hotel and in the morning you can walk along the rocky shore and find tide pools. They offer a wonderful complimentary breakfast in the morning with hot items, freshly cut fruit, and baked goods. I cannot wait to visit Yachats, OR and the Overleaf again. Highly recommended.
