“COULD BE MAJOR DANGEROUS!”
Reviewed July 28, 2014

Located just two miles south of Yachats, Oregon and in the Siuslaw National Forest, Devil's Churn is not for the meek or the unwise! Easily, this basalt inlet can be accessed from Cape Perpetua and is extremely dangerous during high tides, especially in the winter with gusting winds! Over the centuries, wave action carved out this split in the rock. And even in July, as you stand over this crevice, the churning of the waves foam and froth in such a threatening manner that you hesitate and retreat safely a couple more steps. Exhilarating to say the least!

“Go during high tide”
Reviewed July 27, 2014

Though it was nice, it was not exciting. I got there around 1pm, pretty close to high tide (so I heard). Still, cool to see it once.

“Impressive and a very well spent 10 minutes”
Reviewed July 24, 2014

This is one of the best road side attractions. Nature at its most fierce. Come watch in close proximity waves crashing into steep rocky walls. Enjoy the sounds of the giant splashes propelling up into the air. This is like no other destination.

“Scary but captivating”
Reviewed July 22, 2014

This chasm is one of the more impressive ones I've seen. There are many such geological formations along the coast, but this one is the largest. I walked down to the end of this, very carefully, and the deep roars against the rock really do sound like a devil howling. People walking down the trail must be careful to have good shoes with great wet traction. Falling into this chasm is guaranteed death.

“What an awesome attraction”

Let the pictures say it all. This was a very neat attraction to stop and see. A little bit if a hike but well worth it especially if you can catch it when the water is rising.
