My husband and I celebrated our 21st wedding anniversary at the most mystical, beautiful place on the Oregon coast. We traveled from Florida to Oregon to be here 2 nights. We have visited the Oregon coast a couple times before and have always been in awe of this lighthouse and location. So our dream came true to book this trip, Can't say enough good about it! Very clean, very roomy, excellent 7 course breakfast!!!! The view is spectacular!!!! The lighthouse shining beam in the dark is breathtaking!! We met some really nice couples each night. Can't wait to come back and that is for sure!! Don't miss out on visiting God's most perfect creation!

We traveled 9300 miles across the country and stayed in numerous B & B's. While each had much to recommend it, this is the one that continues to rise to the top in when people ask for our favorite. The setting is magnificent even in the fog. The Keeper's House is a piece of living history as is the lighthouse perched high on the bluff. We ate dinner on the deck at the owner's restaurant, Ona, in Yachats and it was also very good. Since the road is windy and narrow we opted not to drink at dinner and bought a bottle of wine to have on the porch at the inn and watch the sunset. The inn provides wine glasses stadium blankets for the cool evening. It was idyllic. But, of course, the most amazing thing about this inn is the breakfast. Have you ever had a 7-course 2+ hour breakfast in your life? Well this was delicious and amazing. We bought their cookbook as well. It was also interesting to meet the other 10 guests and hear some of their travels and stories over breakfast. This is absolutely a wonderful stop along the magnificent Oregon coast. Highly recommend it.

and just perfect for a stay at the Heceta Head Lighthouse. When we arrived Oregon was just beginning to experience a storm front and the results were breathtaking. The seas were high which made the sound of the surf even more intense. The next morning offered great views of both the ocean and the forest with the early morning mist and, later, more rain. We had the Cape Cove room, which does not overlook the ocean directly (but which can be seen if you open the window and lean out). The room was smallish but comfortable. It shared a bathroom, which is normally a dealbreaker, but we had compatible neighbors so it wasn't an issue. Now about the breakfast. It was delicious. But it is served at a set time (8:30), is served in courses (seven) and lasts 2 hours! That is not necessarily a bad thing but I usually prefer to have my breakfast all at once and get my day started. Had we stayed longer it might have been more to my liking. And I wish we could have stayed longer.

Room Tip: Try for a room with an ocean view

We spent 2 nights in the Mariner II suite in the old assistant lightkeeper's house with magnificent views of the rocky coast to the south of the lighthouse. The room was clean and well furnished, and all of the staff we met were very nice and helpful. The house is supposedly haunted; and while we didn't actually see anything unusual, we did hear some strange, unexplainable sounds at night. Some noises could probably be attributed to a creaky old building and very strong winds. I'm not a believer in ghosts, per se, but have to admit that there may be something to the stories of mysterious spirits here. Don't let that keep you away---this place is an incredible place to stay. Go ahead and spend the money. It's worth it.

The lighthouse is a couple hundred yards up the hill. During the day, volunteers give tours and explain the history. You can also walk down to the beach to see the incoming breakers up close. However, don't miss hiking up to the overlook just above the lighthouse. Be sure to go at night and carry the flashlight they provide. It's unforgettable.

You have access to a full kitchen if you care to make dinner or just want to chill some wine or beer for an evening of chatting with other guests. My guess is that you'll skip lunch after gorging on the 7 course gourmet breakfast, which is a highlight of a visit and one of the best breakfasts we've ever had!

We saw many flies on the porch, but not all that many indoors. I don't recall being bitten, but they can be annoying at times.

Enjoy the rugged coast and STAY HERE!

Room Tip: The Mariner II was fine, but we didn't see view from the Mariner I room. Not sure if the lightho...

Breakfast was great and the staff was super nice. It was neat to stay in a lighthouse and the view was amazing but unless you're a lighthouse or history buff, I don't think it's worth the money. The house is old and is sort of stinky and there were tons of flies. The mattress in our room was too soft and offered no support. It was a restless night. I would have been much more comfortable somewhere with more amenities.

This B&B was a Lighthouse Keepers house, near to Heceta Head lighthouse (now automated, so there are no keepers on-site any more). It was a duplex house, now converted into one. It has two storeys with half a dozen bedrooms upstairs, each furnished simply but comfortably, and typically with a great view of the ocean or a not-so-great view inland and of what is described as a historic road-bridge (it is unremarkable). Our small room had its own even smaller bathroom but some rooms use a grand communal bathroom.

Downstairs is graciously furnished and you have access to a kitchen (stocked with basic provisions), a sitting room (with a library of attractive-looking books that were, strangely, all locked up) and the dining room, with a large table at which all the guests sit for a communal breakfast. The legendary breakfast is a succession of courses served up to you with a gastronomic commentary, more like a dinner than a breakfast - it lasts an hour or more, so don't think of getting away early.

My wife and I enjoyed the communal breakfast as a chance to talk with the other guests but I noticed that one couple seemed uncomfortable in the social gathering, so maybe it doesn't suit everyone. It was such a lovely setting that we spent all one morning sitting in the sun on the verandah looking at the view, sketching and photographing, watching the waves, the changing and dissipating fog, the cormorants and a wedding party using the lawns as a setting for the ceremony; we had no desire to put any effort into travelling to somewhere that was almost certainly not as beautiful. The location is a State Park so people walk by on the path and we were approached by several of them with various questions, so it's not very private during the day. In the evening it is all yours - enjoy a glass of wine with the sunset and a stroll to the lighthouse.

Dinner is either something you have brought back with you and eat in the kitchen or you drive about 10 miles in one direction or the other: Yachats is small, quiet and has good restaurants, including a cheap, cheerful and excellent fish restaurant called the Luna Sea Fish House. Florence is touristy and has fast food.

The B&B is an old house, with steps up to its entrances and narrow curving stairs to the bedrooms: wheelchairs have no chance to access the facilities. It could be a struggle for people with more than minor mobility impairment.

We stayed for two nights and were glad to have done so: it would be a waste to use this simply as an overnight stop, unless you have to.

Room Tip: You have to book early. Read the details of the rooms carefully on the website and choose the one t...

We stayed at the lighthouse B&B as part of a 30th anniversary trip to Oregon and Washington. The views as everyone an see are spectacular. We stayed in Mariner one room which gave a great view of the cliffs and ocean beyond. The house itself was nice, really not a lot special about it. We did notice a bit of an essence in the air that maybe there was a cat living in the house (smell), but we never saw a cat. The room was neat and well appointed. Very comfortable bed, smallish bathroom but that was sort of expected. As others have written there seemed to be a fly problem as there were many of them buzzing around in our room. I guess there is not much they can really do about that, as you really would want screens on the windows to distract from the great views. We really enjoyed the lighthouse itself, The late night walk up the trail to the lighthouse was fantastic. Not much interaction with staff, other than check in. The breakfast the next morning was very good, but as many have said it is lengthy. This is not a case of grabbing a quick bite and be on your way. It does last about an hour and a half, but it is worth it, and after all it is one of the main things you are paying for. Overll we do recommend this as a great place to stay. It is a bucket list location.

Room Tip: If you are going to spring for the high $$, you may as well go for one of the Mariner rooms. The vie...
