“Sportmen's is not a traditional restaurant....seafood market...yes!”
Reviewed July 22, 2013

It's a shame that this market is lumped with full service restaurants. My wife and I visited and she wanted a Dungeness Crab. Sportmen's sells it by the pound. The gal behind the counter pulled 3 cooked crabs from the cooler and weighed each one and asked me which one I wanted to buy. It weighed 1.75 pounds. She cleaned the guts out and served it on a plate to me. Not having utensils, she was kind enough to loan me a cracker and we used my wife's Swiss Army knife to pick the crab on the picnic tables in front of the store. The crab was delicious and the setting was neat as we smelled the smoke that was being used as they smoked salmon. Sportmen's is not a restaurant so bring your own utensils to enjoy fresh seafood at its best.

“Seafood Seafood Seafood”
Reviewed May 28, 2013

What do we think of when we arrive on the Oregon Coast? Seafood, fresh delightful seafood and this locally owned and operated eatery is one of the best for selection and freshness. Smoked salmon, fresh caught crab, served on rustic tables out doors right next to the BBQs. The food is perfect the service needs a little help....Great for large family groups with children.
Try the BBQ salmon it is fantastic.

“Awful food and service”
Reviewed September 4, 2012

We had a midday lunch over Labor Day weekend, and to say we were disappointed would be an understatement.

First of all, the seating area is outdoors in a parking lot. Seeing that, we should've turned on our heels and fled. But the bbq setup looked pretty good, so we took our chances. Bad move on our part.

It was nearly 30 minutes between the time we placed our order and received our food. Clam chowder: gloppy. Crab Louie: the salad came out of a plastic bag and the helping of crab was minimal. Our lunch with beverages cost close to $30, pretty much a ripoff considering the quality.

The service was brusque and we actually saw an employee be rude to a customer who'd asked a simple question: "How much do the crabs cost?"

Seek out another place in Winchester Bay, or head up to Florence where you've got a decent choice of restaurants.

“Really depends what you order”
Reviewed August 2, 2011

This is an bbq attached to the cannery. The bbq chicken, shrimp and snapper were great, but the triangle oysters were steamed on the bbq with zero seasoning and they were inedible. Cooking oysters is wrong in the first place, but there wasn't a raw option on the menu. They were out of crab. The sides were Ok, although tasted bought eg. can beans, potato salad. There is only outdoor seating and the bathrooms are the public ones a short walk down the street.
