What we expected was a clean, cozy place where we could relax and enjoy our time togeher.
What we got was a stuffy over priced room in which the bedroom window didn't open, so you could not hear the ocean at night. The bed was worn and uncomfortable. There was no maid service and in the four days we stayed if we wanted new linen we were expected to come to the office to get it. The problem was that there was no one in the office most of the time.
Also there were signs everywhere about the things we must not do. A sign on the microwave says that if we burn popcorn or anything in it we were going to have to replace the microwave. Needless to say, we didn't make popcorn. Another sign said that before we leave we must sweep the floor and take out the trash. I wonder what we paid for when we paid $130.00 a night. Also there was a sign that said our credit card would be charged $300 if we smoked, which we don't.
We felt very uncomfortable and ill at-ease while we were there . One could only wonder what would happen if we broke a dish or soiled a towel.
I would never recommend this place to anyone.

My family have been coming to Cape Cod Cottages since the 70's and we are used to the funky Oregon Coast aesthetic. However, this time we were appalled by the dirt and general uncleanliness of this place. The kitchen floor was black with dirt and sticky to the touch, there was dust everywhere, all the lamps and chandeliers were thick with dust and grease, the smoke alarm had been removed, the heat vents were encrusted with a mixture of dust and grease, there were dirty fingerprints on the front and other doors/windows, black mold covered the mouldings of the window above the kitchen sink and the stove/oven was filthy. The plastic garbage bin was so filthy we did not want to put our fingers down there to retrieve another plastic bag. Cobwebs and dirt cling to the mouldings around the floors and there is a general lack of caring for this cute little house. I think because this is a housekeeping unit no one comes in and cleans behind guests. Needs a good deep cleaning. And for the money, you shouldn't have to feel like you are living in someone else's dirt.

The one and only thing that can possibly recommend this place are the ocean views and that you can walk down to the beach.

Friends and I spent two nights at the Cape Cod Cottages (our second visit) and we enjoyed the location, the helpful management and the cozy simplicity of the two bed room unit. The beds were very comfortable, as were the chairs and couch. It was nice to have a fire in the evening, and the kitchen was stocked with the basic appliances. There's nothing fancy about the Cape Cod Cottages, and it reminds me of the beach vacations of my youth .... knotty pine paneling, red checked table cloth, even a card table for games or puzzles. Wish we'd had more time and will return.

We stayed here as it was a convenient location between the various towns we wanted to visit on the Oregon coast. We stayed in a one bedroom as part of a duplex. It truly is rustic, BUT the bed was very comfy and that is a key factor! Kitchen provided the basics we needed to cook breakfast, lunches and a couple of dinners. Water was easily hot, all things drained well. They provided a dura-flame log for the fireplace (nice on those cool nights) which was dropped off every morning at the door.
The covered deck was fantastic as we noted that some of the other options had uncovered balconies. As it rained a few days and misted, the cover provided the perfect spot to sit with a cup of coffee and just watch the waves. Access to the beach is excellent as unlike many other places, you do not have to cross a road.
These are cottages so management is not on site 24/7. I always travel with pen and post-it's so left notes on the office door for whatever we needed.
We stayed from a Sunday through to a Fri. morning...and yes, would stay again.

We just returned from a week in mid-August at the Beach House run by Cape Cod Cottages. It was just what we wanted for a week on the Oregon coast with family: an older house directly on a secluded, sandy beach (just below the house, down a few stairs--private access). The beach extends as far as Yachats to the south and Waldport to the north, 6 miles in total.

The house is large, clean and neat, but one must expect dated furnishings and kitchen. The sunroom, which extends onto the deck, with sliding doors and large view windows and has a dining table and deep couch, was everyone's favorite gathering place. The house itself is located just off Hwy. 101, so one upstairs bedroom facing away from the ocean does get some traffic noise. The sound of ocean waves is all you hear in the rest of the house. It was easy to serve casual meals to a large extended family, and let everone just do their own thing...that's what we wanted...as I remember the Oregon coast many years ago.

My family and I spent a wonderful week at the Beach House. The time on the beach , resting and relaxing in the Waldport area were wonderful. The home was a blessing for our handicapped daughter, with a roomy handicap shower, and great view of the ocean. I would watch the waves come in as I cooked from the large kitchen window. The sound of the waves and the magnicent view of the big stump, boats on the sea, and the birds as they flew by were exciting to watch. The rooms were clean and well kept, and the staff were polite and professional in answering all our questions and helping with our needs, The kitchen was well equipped and we cooked many of our meals from in the house while journeying on day trips between Depot Bay and Cape Arago.

We stayed in honor of my mother's 85th birthday. This is the Oregon Coast of my childhood. If you want plush decorated rooms, flat screen tvs, and spa treatment, go somewhere else. As the late great Tom McCall said of Oregon, "Come visit us again and again. This is a state of excitement. But for heaven's sake, don't move here to live."
