The wife and I and our little son came for yet another coastal retreat. While the food was good - (think small home Denny's in taste and price.) We were pretty much treated like outsiders and stood there awkwardly, waiting for a table while the employees bantered with the locals. I get that being tight with locals is key but visitors too should be made to feel welcome.
