Really enjoyed the variety of sauces. The food was good. We were bothered by a small fire in the kitchen that made the smoke alarm sound for probably 10 minutes forcing some people to leave.

We stopped into this place for lunch because a friend of mine said it is REALLY good BBQ. I should have known better than to trust a corporate chain restaurant could have REALLY good BBQ.

I would like to start with our waitress, nice lady, very pleasant to deal with, paid just the right attention to us and our needs. However, she REALLY needs to tone back her perfume. As a Chef, I hate having to tell waitstaff to tone back their fragrances. Customers come in to enjoy the tastes and smells of a restaurant, not to have to gag back the odor of a too fragrant employee.

We shared the feast for two: Ribs, chicken, brisket, chopped pork, house beans, potato salad, fries, corn bread muffins.

Let's start: Ribs - They call them Southside Ribs. Southside of what? Heavy dry rub with a hint of sauce. They weren't horrible, but they weren't great. No hint of smoke.

Brisket - Absolutely NO sign of a smoke ring on the meat, and there will never be a rick of burnt ends on this brisket. Too moist...yeah, you heard that right, too moist for smoked Texas style brisket. Again, no hint of smoke.

Chicken - The best of the bunch, nicely seasoned, but without a hint of smoke anywhere. No signs or tastes of smoke at all in the chicken.

Chopped Georgia Pork - It looks like they seasoned it, but it didn't taste like it was seasoned. And guess what, still no hint of smoke. I paid an extra $5 for this little portion?!

Corn Bread Muffins - Good! Nice and sweet with a perfect crumb. Would have liked more of these.

Potato Salad - BLAND. No paprika, salt, pepper, any kind of seasoning, and too much celery.

House Beans - Too thin, canned beans with shredded brisket, cut hot link and jalapenos. Not worth it.

House Fries - Actually good, but not really house fries. Definitely a frozen product.

Their sauces were actually decent EXCEPT for the fact they clearly use a liquid smoke in a couple of their sauces. Anyone that knows true BBQ knows that liquid smoke is an abomination.

In the end, it MIGHT be worth it to get more of their chicken, even though it was not true BBQ, it was good and flavorful. Maybe their burgers, not sure since I did not have a burger, but they certainly look good.

As for BBQ, we spent WAY too much money on crappy BBQ. We will NOT be making that same mistake twice.

If you feel the need for protein, Dave has you covered. Healthy portions.
A nice selection of sauces, most of them seem to be based on high fructose corn syrup, but a couple are very spicy.
Loud roadhouse atmosphere, eager servers, and comforting comfort food.

Delicious barbecue food in a western atmosphere. Something for the whole family. Just off of I-5 made it easy to get to.
